Upgraded PSU Questions - Apple IIGS

I've started to collect numerous cards for my Apple IIGS and I'd like to upgrade my power supply for the computer. I was thinking about purchasing the pre-assembled ReActiveMicro Ultimate Universal Power Supply, but I was wondering if there was a higher-wattage, internal, power supply option for the IIGS? Any ideas?

It's really not necessary.

It's really not necessary. The stock supply has plenty of power. Unless you were going to install something like a Vulcan hard drive. I have a transwarp, Uthernet II, Litesound, Apple HS SCSI, and Garret's 8mb ram expansion with zero power issues. Granted a card like Garret's will use a lot less power than an equivalent RAM expansion from bitd.

Also, for all your other posts, the forum has a Marketplace for sale/trade section. Those all should really have been posted there.

That makes sense, thank you!

That makes sense, thank you! However, after booting up my computer, with a Zip GSX, Microdrive Turbo, AE Sonic Blaster, and RAMFAST Rev C SCSI card, it outputs garbled text. After removing the SCSI card it works. I also plan to get an Uthernet II. After removing the SCSI card, it works. The SCSI card is fully functional in another computer.

Sorry, I did not know that there was a sale/trade section. My bad! Is there a way to move the topics to the section?

This still may not be a power

This still may not be a power issue. What version is your ZipGSX? I believe the rev C scsi card has issues with ZipGSC v1.01 or lower. IMO, a micro drive and SCSI seem a bit redundant.

I don't believe you can move topics, most likely only an admin can. Just more of an FYI for future posts.

I have both the SCSI and

I have both the SCSI and MicroDrive b/c I found the SCSI card, ZIP GSX, AE Sonic Blaster at a store for just $10. I beilve the Zip GSX is a v1.02, but I'm not 100% sure. It's pretty jam packed in the computer! I'll check later today.

On a seperate note, if I were to upgrade my Power Supply, what options would I have? I don't really want to solder, as I'm not the best at it!

I can't speak to installing

I can't speak to installing it or other options, as I've always found the oem supply to be robust enough and reliable (not including the RIFA cap). But I'm still not sure you have proven this is a power issue. Just because the scsi card worked on a different Apple, that doesn't mean there isn't still any kind of conflict with what is installed in the original IIgs. Many manufacturers abused specs and pulled tricks to maximize performance that may conflict with other cards/settings. Also, what kind of ram expansion are you using and what amount? If it's more than 4MB, this could be a DMA issue depending on the card.

As long as you are pulling cards to check the version of the ZipGs, I'd remove everything except the zip and scsi card and see what happens. If it's fine, then add in the micro drive. The stock supply should easily handle just those 3 cards (and I doubt the sound card is adding much load).

Why do you need a MicroDrive and a SCSI card in the same machine?  Isn't that a bit redundant?

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll be sure to try it when I get a chance, but I'd still like to know if I were to get a replacement PSU, what would I get?
