cloning a Soundchaser and an Alpha Syntauri

I going to clone the soundchaser first, since I own one.

Soundchaser PCB desoldered:

Connector decoded:

It is possible to adapt a simple 49 key midi control keyboard to be attached to the sound chaser Interface. The alpha syntauri is a bit more complicated since it uses dynamic keys.

Very cool Jonas,

Nice job on the de-solder work. Thanks for sharing.
And for all who are interested, the software for this board can be D/L'd here:

I came across a new version

I came across a new version of the interface:

it seems to be manufactured by JEN for a 61-key keyboard

Jen Schematics

Hi all.

Trying to reproduce a Jen interface, some tracks seem hidden by sockets. Anyone with Jen interface schematics or picture of desoldered sockets board?

Thanks in advance,

Krat

Jen Musipak Interface Repro Finalized

Hi all,,

just to share with you the Jen repro i did.

Actually i need the software for FloppyEmu to fully test the keyboard.

We've tried at the show with a basic program and all the keys work..

If anyone has a working dsk or po format, please share .. I'd like to reach the final step. I tried the woz, it starts but it won't let me work due to a write protect error..

And the dsk i found won't start.. I hope to have a solution soon .. Thanks for your help.

Software on FloppyEmu

Hi!

After talking to Stynx, that i thank a lot for the support in the photos of the original card, i tried to use the WOZ format in the software package he sent me.

The WOZ was read only so i needed to change CRC  check and R/O flags.

After that the program run without the write protected message in AppleWin Apple IIe Emulator :)

Now only a phisical disk is left in the journey. I will test the keyboard with this new file an will report .

Regards,

Krat

I have patched two defective

I have patched two defective sectors on my the physical copy of the system disk and made some copies. The data-disk still has a defective sector but i think i can fix that too.

Writing the .woz disk to  aphysical floppy has not worked and the software will not start. I don't really know what the problem is but it seems to be related to the position on the physical disk and the timings related to reading the sectors or something. If the sectors are synced to an index (index hole or sync-sensor), the software will not load and throw either an IO-error or a "break in 8224"-error.

The defective sector in the data-disk is in a file named "MASTER.A" but i think i might be able to fix it.

Here are the AppleSauce flux

Here are the AppleSauce flux-images: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1jPPxjTcpWf9u2BQI0P8ca6qVW80oizSz?usp=share_link

The System disk is now working although i have not successfully written a working disk from the Applesauce FDC. I had repaired the defecive sectors on a real Apple II with "Copy II Plus 7.4". I sucessfully tested the system disk in a Jen System with the cards and keyboard installed.

The data-disk has a defective sector 06 on track 22. There seems to be something wrong in the nibble-stream and maybe someone with a bit more knowledge can fix that... I currently cannot get any further with the repair on the Jen data disk.
