Hi everyone,
I had an LC575 collecting dust in a closet until I brought it back to life for my kids (aged 2 to 7) to use. It was working great (mostly running educational games, keyboard smashers, paint/draw apps, etc.) until recently when the mouse pointer started behaving erratically, as if the mouse mechanism was gummed up with lint - except it wasn't. Now the pointer is frozen, though the machine otherwise boots normally. I booted with extensions off - still frozen. Booted from my OS 8 CD - still frozen. At this point I'm thinking it might be a hardware problem, since booting from CD should eliminate a damaged system file or driver as the cause, no?
So I'm not sure where to go from here - any ideas? I'd try another ADB mouse if I had one. I checked the connector for damaged pins and it looks ok. The keyboard also seems to be working fine. Is there a s/w routine of some sort available that can test my hardware?

It'll let you to see what's doing on the ADB bus. If your shmousy don't show up in ADB Parser's device list, it's time for a 'nuther shmousy. I originally wrote "new shmousy", but heck, I don't think there is such a beast any more, is there?

dan, thank you for your help. I ran ADB Parser and my mouse does in fact show up in the device list, at address 3. I also maybe get a valid response when sending a command to this device (can't say for sure since I'm just taking a guess how to use this program). But still, my mouse will not move the pointer... Any other ideas, by chance?
maybe there's a bunch of crud in the internal sensors. Since it shows up as a valid device the problem is more likely mechanical, like unwanted crud.
