Replica I Cases?

What kind of cases have people been using for their Replica I's?

Can anyone recommend an off-the-shelf case that I can buy to mount a Replica I in?

Well, given that the necessary power supply is an AT sort of thing, any good old 486 minitower will do the job. You may need to make some significant modifications to it to mount the logic board, and you're going to have lots of room for drives that you won't use most likely, but if you want ready-made, that's what you'd work with. Bonus if you are using an AT or PS/2 keyboard since the case would match it.

You might also get by with an external drive enclosure if you could find one with enough empty space inside it.

I'm going to look at getting some of the plastic that white G5-alike is made of and see if I can make something that looks nice out of it. Don't know if I want white or black yet, but I know that beige is right out. Wink

Re: Replica I Cases?

Well...

I *know* that, but... I was hoping there was a more plain case that could be used.

Since I don't know if we will ever get the Cassette interface, and definitely won't get a disk or hdd interface for it...

I'm not needing something as large, bulky and yucky as an AT case.

I was thinking more of one of those small book sized cases.

A shame that an ATX connector for power wasn't used rather than an AT connector. It would make the selection of cases much larger.

I guess I'll have to go the route of building my own case like you've suggested.

I've got to get some $$$ together and order a unit. I've been putting it off for awhile, but I'm itching to play with a computer for fun, and constantly reloading my XP box isn't fun anymore...

I can't remember the 2 pin nu

I can't remember the 2 pin numbers right now and I'm not at home to look it up but if you research the ATX you will find the power on gets jumpered to the connector next to it (going off memory) and that brings the ATX up. So you just need to connect that to an external switch for power up. Now, there are adapters out there (I have 1) that allow you to attach an ATX power supply to a P8/P9 style computer. Do a google for ATX to P8P9 and you'll find it.
