Last night when I installed Panther on my Rev.A iMac and when I rebooted I waited and waited and then the hard drive made beeping and humming noises that were not usual. It also does not fully boot. HELP A POOR SAP WITH HIS iMac!

What was on the iMac before? Tell us what process you did to do the upgrade. Certain steps might make all the difference in a successful install or not.
I first installed 9.1. Then 9.2.2. Then 10.0, 10.1, 10.2 and then 10.3 all in the same day. T did not install anything else. Could it have been the Hard Drive update that I should have done?
Did you do the FirmWare update? That is mandatory before going to X. YOu might have to do a few tricks to get it installed, but if it hasn't had it it'll cause these sorts fo problems.
