Any info on the 68kmla?

I know that the 68k Macintosh Liberation Army shares a large user base with AppleFritter, including mods and admins.

So, does anyone know the current status of the 68kmla?

Recently there has been an issue in either the System Configuration or MySQL, because i'm getting this error:

phpBB : Critical Error

Could not query config information

DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : 1146 Table 'wick-wor_68kmla.phpbb_config' doesn't exist

SELECT * FROM phpbb_config

Line : 219
File : common.php

Apparently the estimated repair times have gone over by 2 days (2 hrs repair time) and me, and many other MLAers, would like to get
some form of update.

So please, if anyone has any info, let us know in this thread.

That error make it seem to me

That error make it seem to me like the SQL is corrupt, or taken offline entirely. But I'm hardly a MySQL expert.

I agree - I think it's been taken offline entirely.

Or in other words, I think there's no more SQL at 68kmla.net because they switched servers, and I'm betting there's some logistical glitch with the DNS updating -www.68kmla.net probably doesn't point to the new IP address yet.

Cinemafia, if you're reading this and my guess is correct, please post the direct IP so we cann access the forums until the DNS updates across the 'net.

Best,
Matt

Well it's a SQL error...

..and a tricky one at that. The database has emptied itself somehow, and it won't let me upload any of the backups I have, or create any new tables. It gives me an error along the lines of:

#1 - Can't create/write to file './wick-wor_68kmla/phpbb_config.frm' (Errcode: 13)

I don't think that there's a lot I can do to fix it. I'll just need to wait for Cinemafia to get around to sorting it out. I've sent him an email, but I've not got anything back yet.

However don't worry guys, we have backups of the data from the old server just before we switched. In fact, the old server is still online, it's just that the DNS are pointing to the new server and I can't change it back. The DNS have changed over nicely, and if we had a working SQL database everything would be lovely... unfortunately it's not wanting to play ball.

That's a strange error, it se

That's a strange error, it seems to me like there are no permissions set for the sql files themselves.

Permissions

Error 13 indicates permission denied. It's likely you need to grant privileges on the database to your user. Are you using a separate user than the user that phpBB is setup to use? If you are, you might try reimporting the database from within a php page. Though, if setup properly, I doubt that the user phpBB is using has table creation privileges.

I feel your pain. Databases are a pain in the neck sometimes.

For now...

The 68kMLA IRC chatroom is still open, as well as servers running the iChat/AIM system.

I kept this AIM chatroom name handy: MLAChat

And the IRC channel is still working, but most 68kmla members would know how to get
there. If you are a 68kmla member, but don't know the IRC, you have 1 of 2 options.

a) Send me a message on AppleFritter, and i'll send back the details

Or more preferably:

b) Catch me on iChat/AIM with the name imac600x and i'll point you in the right
direction.

Thanks, and 68kmla, Get Well Soon. Wink
