Becuase a sub-company of Tulip N.V. is making a premium "lifestyle" laptop that is uncannily related to it. Check out the Ego. If it could run OSX86 I'd probably be happy with one. Heck, it'll probably run Linux or a BSD, so I'd be happy with it anyway. I can't think of much else that a modern Apple clamshell design might look like. Ego is a fiarly new company andd it seems that they latched onto the general idea of the Apple design and brought it into the current trends. I like the swappable skins and the DVD/CD player that can function independently of the laptop.

If I hadn't been following a link to Tulip about their bad attitude regarding their ownership of the Commodore mark and rights and people even using the term, I'd be even more impressed with the machine.

I hate to say it...

It looks downright ugly... That, and it's probably thick as hell and hard to work on.
jeeze, what some people will pay for fashion. They don't even look comfortable to work with. Apple kept the Clamshell design simple. It looks like they threw everything they could into it, and threw out the design of ergonomics.

The wide, flat space around t

The wide, flat space around the LCD makes it look a little to similar to one of those kids laptops…

Why does one of the patterns available look like dried mud?

Maybe that's part of the cosmopolitain lifestyle the site mentions. Acute

Kinda interesting, but a bit pricey for a kitsch iBook rip-off.

The wide space is also related to the large smooth curves of the casing. There is the same issue with the clamshell iBooks. There is only so large of a rectangular panel that can be installed into a curved surface. They do make custom skins, so the variety shown on their gallery isn't the limit. How many people complained about the wild colors of the iMacs and iBooks? Wink
