Running MacOS on a Pippin console

I've spent the last couple of weeks playing around with MacOS on a Pippin. The results were mixed -- System 7.5.5 runs happily and I would be able to run an old web server such as MacHTTP 2.2 if I had the space to set it up somewhere -- but it would have been nice to get a minimal Linux installation running. A full report on the successful bits can be found at http://www.mandrake.demon.co.uk/Apple/pip1.html.

I still have many questions remaining:
What is the video controller on Pippins? The page above includes a TattleTech report describing the system.
Does anyone have any Pippin developer resources -- documentation or software -- that I could borrow? Is the old Apple Pippin site mirrored anywhere?

Time frame for Pippin?

I've got a box of old Developer CDs I could take a look thru if you give me a hint as to the year/months in question.

Which brings up the next question: what's a good CD scan/catalog app? Freeware/inexpensive ShareWare preferred for now, but I'd spend more money on a REALLY good commercial app if there's a standout. Nobody has offered a recommendation when I've asked in the past.

Well, you did ask.;)

I've used Disktracker (http://www.portents.com/disktracker/) on the Mac, and it's great.

Thanks, Trash. The officia

Thanks, Trash.

The official Pippin life span was March 1996 to March 1998. I've seen photos of SDK CDs dated late 1995 which would be historically interesting but I'm more concerned about 1996/1997 when I believe that Apple changed the Pippin authentication mechanism.

Bookcase

It runs on Linux, but I think you could run it in MacOS. It requires KDE, or at least Qt. I know that someone got KOffice to run under OSX, so there might be a Qt toolkit out for X. It's a really good program and lets you organize books, DVD's, CD's, Stamps, Wine, etc.

684k But they appear to be the same revs/file sizes. I checked authentication (both rev 003) and a couple of others, but there's an additional 120k in the Q&A document.
