fitting amd board in quicksilver case

i just got my linux computer that i built for school at home today so i can work on it over the summer. one of the things i really want to do is put it in a quicksilver case modified much like the blue ice g4 since i'm not exactly pleased with the custom plexiglass case i made, and the powermac case would make it so much easier to work on the hardware. the only thing i wanted to know was if i could physically fit the board in the case, however, since the quicksilver has 4 pci slots, and this board has 5 pci slots. taking care of cable extensions and whatnot is easy, but how closely did apple fit the case to their board? my only fear is that the extra pci slot will make the board just long enough that it won't be possible to close the case. hope to hear about it.

another thing. the thing has ubuntu on it now, and i'm having a hell of a time modding it to look like os x (what else in preparation for a powermac case?). anyone know how to actually install and build vlc and whatnot? i'm not famaliar enough with linux to manage it.

1: Install this. 2: Choose your software.

There is no step three.

Find it via the Add/Remove...

Find it via the Add/Remove... item in the Application menu. It's there, just put vlc into the search pane and make sure the Show: list is set to "All available applications". I just checked on my 7.04 install on my P4 system.

Unless you go through the step (manually or via Automatix and friends) of adding additional repositories you won't get a lot of the things people actually want. (DVD decoding, various codecs, etc.)

just got vlc and all. my audi

just got vlc and all. my audio now no longer works and it was yesterday. i suspect it's the usb speakers that i have since they seem to work with some of the apps (volums adjuster on them doesn't exactly control ubuntu).

as for fitting the board in the case, the two projects i have seen state that the drives must be moved to the bottom of the case to clear the ram, etc. i'm afraid that might be an issue for me as the case that i first built the computer in before building the plexiglass case had problems with the power connector not clearing the optical drive. it looks like it might be as simple as cutting a new location in the chassis for the drive and flipping around the front bezel, but i'm not entirely sure. however, i do know that the board BARELY physically fits when it comes to clearing the hings mechanism, etc.
