Just be sure to keep in mind they got to this point selling Fisher-Price "My First Music Players" and pretty-yet-dumb cellphones churned out in slave labor concentration camps where the workers are compelled to seek death as their only release, not by selling computers.
But sure, whatever. Yay for the *new* Big Brother.
ROTFMAO!!
Eudi, you da' man! I don't think there's anyone else here who could so effortlessly spike a shoutout for Apple's success with a 'another-iPod-making-worker-kills-self' reference. I'm dazzled!

Yeah, after all, what's wrong with a little slave labor? In a time of phony money, competing fiat currencies on the way to going bust--get with it--inside connections at J.P. Morgan and Goldman Sachs, a little adolescent gadget made in a foreign sweatshop where no EPA can travel, some offshore support staff in India, distribution in a non-unionized major chain store, and you too could be drinking champagne all the time. Bill Gates, eat your heart out. Steve's slaves are better than your slaves. By the way, is Bill still the richest man or something like that? Was he long ago passed by Buffet too?
*Snicker* Thank you. I will tell you, sometimes it's hard work to keep up this level of curmudgeonly-ness. ;^)
Anyway... *shrug*. What's really sort of rubbed me the wrong way about this idiocy is that despite the simplistic headlines everyone's been parroting Apple is *not* bigger than Microsoft, nor is it even *close* to being the "biggest tech company". (Do the research.) What it is is the tech company with the highest market cap, IE, the aggregate value of all its outstanding shares is the highest. There are many, *many* historical examples of companies achieving the distinction of having a market cap disproportionate to their actual performance, and it *always* ends with a painful reality check.
Right now Wall Street is desperately searching for shiny things to throw money at. They've picked Apple because OMG IPODS IPHONES IPADS WOW I LIKE THOSE YOU LIKE THOSE ITS PURE GOLD RIGHT!?! Anyone who thinks congratulations are actually in order doesn't understand just how fragile the whole house of cards really is.
But eh. Whatever. Do I wish I'd bought Apple stock when it dipped under $20 in late 2000? Yeah, sure, why not. But I also wish I'd won the lottery the last time I bought a ticket. (Sometime around that time, ironically.) With how fake our economy is the level of financial acumen required to purchase a stock is approximately the same as it takes to pick a lottery number. If you win the jackpot, great, but don't pretend you're smarter than the guys who didn't.
Eudi, I'm beginning to suspect more and more that you and I are actually twins that got separated at birth. I didn't bother replying to this thread because I knew you'd pretty much say it for me.
You've got to give Cruiser a bit of a break. After all; he lives in Hawaii where the sun is shining. the surf is up and a 12 ounce can of Pepsi costs an arm, a leg, and your first born child. lol
Pepsi? Ugh. Thanks, but I'll keep my first born. I've been a Dr. Pepper guy all my life.
"I'm an Apple, Your an Apple, He's an Apple, She's an Apple, wouldn't you rather be an Apple II?"
lol If the Jingle fits.....
Lmao why did i see that one coming.
The jingle's all yours. I sold what I could out of my Apple II and trashed the rest.
I take my medicine at 10, 2, and 4. Helps me in the waves. Doctor P says it's good for the nerves.
While there are a lot of smoke and mirrors with this "news" story, there are a couple of important details. Other than the outstanding stock, Apple has no corporate debt, and billions in cash. An actual comparison on that basis combined with current actual cash flow would be interesting. Microsoft has an awfully big customer base, despite having made many unhappy with their products, so the cash flow there should be considerable. I don't think that they've had the need to issue corporate bonds.
