I find it rather interesting

I find it rather interesting that you created your Applefritter account by coincidence just a few hours after the eBay 7-day auction was started, and then make this thread a day before the auction ends.

Don't see a problem here. Poster doesn't state or imply whether it's his auction or not.

I didn't say it was a problem

I didn't say it was a problem. I said it was interesting--maybe the fact that he doesn't state or imply, and if it's his auction, the curiosity of his timing. That's all. I'm not losing sleep over it.

Ten hours to go. We should place bets on the final outcome. Times are tough, people are tight with their money now, even collectors. I'm going to put my bet at around $34,000. If he had posted this thread a week ago and we'd been calling attention to it all this time, I'd be guessing $44,000. Ah, the power of Applefritter! Wink

I am the seller

For the record,

the Apple 1 is mine.

I stumbled applefritter while researching historical ebay auctions for previous Apple 1's, no coincidence there. I'm impressed there is an entire forum dedicated to this motherboard.

I hate to 'bet' on my own auction, but I suspect your price is close as there have been a number of Apple 1's up for sale this year already, and as you've said, the economy is tough.

I originally had a high reserve price on it, but eventually removed it to ensure it's exit from my house. I'm eyeing an almost complete cdc 6600, which is generally considered the first supercomputer, of which only 10 were sold.

Good luck. I hope you break t

Good luck. I hope you break the record with the sale. It looks like one of the best surviving examples, and it's got Woz written all over it, so it's got genuine character. Take a picture of your collection one day and post it here. It will be the talk of the forums.

I hope you break the record with the sale.

Appears to have ended with a final price of "only" $22,766.66. (It's a shame there wasn't one more six, there, it would of been shockingly apropos.)

There's always a danger in bringing a "rare" item to market too recently after a similar item has been sold. Makes yours look a little less rare. Of course, the fact that people are starting to wake up to the fact that our economy is entirely composed of funny money might of driven the price down as well. ;^)

Oh, well.
