When my TiBook came down with the "black screen of death," i bought a 17" flat panel imac. After a year, HALF of the beautiful screen is now displaying a very faint flicker of pink horizontal lines, from top to bottom. 1) What the heck is this, and 2) how do i fix it? I have scoured other groups and forums but could not find anyone with this problem.
I can still see things in the entire screen, but imagine a noticable flicker on half the screen. It gets really annoying and painful! Any ideas? - gotphil@yahoo.com
Yeah, I had observed that on my Mac, a 500MGz TiPowerbook. When I upgraded to OS 10.2 it started, once I went to 10.3 it didn't recur. I think that I also checked/played with the screen resolution in System Preferences.
What OS are you running?

i'm running OS X 10.2.3, I have been for a long time. I played around with the resolution in sys prefs, but no results. Every resolution i selected still contained the faint flicker.
Do you know what the reason is the system upgrade got rid of them for you?
Is 10.3 a downloadable upgrade?
mine is working fine, but the HD did die just about a week out of warranty. Oh well i got a 120Gb to replace the original 80 so i got more space now, but i lost everything i had on that drive.
Life will probably be better at 10.2.8. 10.3 is a pay-for upgrade, as will 10.4 when it's put out. They do update drivers and things with system updates, so it's usually a good idea to install them. If you have a decent connection available (broadband) I'd definitely suggest running Software Update a few times and letting it get all the updates it wants for your Mac.
Thanks, everyone, for their comments. But I'm still not sure how upgrading the system software would help the pink lines on my screen. It sounds more like a hardware problem. Are you referring to firmware?
As a matter of fact, over the weekend, I did upgrade to 10.2.8, but the pink line flickering is still there.
Any ideas?
