Hi Guys,
I have created the four disk set for Apple Pascal but I get a "no file system.apple" message when I try to boot from disk 1. It seems I am missing a disk or I am starting the Apple up incorrectly. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I also notice that the disk images were classed as an operating system rather than a programming language so can anyone clarify this?
Ihave since downloaded Instant Pascal and Laser Pascal but I am struggling to find a PDF manual for them. Any ideas?
Sorry to hit you with all this but I wish to get back into programming on a machine I wish I owned in the eighties!

Regarding Apple UCSD Pascal - you are booting disk 1 as a 5-1/4" floppy in drive 6, correct?

I have one disk drive connected to the interface in slot 6 and I am trying to boot disk 1 from that. (I do have other drives available)
I did not know that this was UCSD Pascal as the images were named Apple Pascal

OK, I don't think I fully understand how to use this.
I have tried to look at a list of the files on the Pascal disks with the DOS catalog command but just get I/O errors and random garbage on the screen. I suppose I must be missing another boot disk of some kind but I do not know where to look for this.
I'm sure if i can get it running I will have a better understanding of how to use it but I don't seem to be getting very far at the moment.

On a single drive system, you will have to boot using the Apple0: disk. If you really want to use Pascal, a two drive system is a necessity. A lot of disk swapping is in your future without it, and development becomes very painful and limited. Look for "Apple Pascal: A Hands On Approach" for an excellent introduction to the system (which is an operating system AND a programming language).

I don't have an Apple0 disk, only the four that came with the Apple II documentation project so could you point me in the right direction?

The disk images are Apple0: through Apple3: (images labeled Apple Pascal - Disk 0 through Disk 3). These are not DOS 3.3 compatible - they use their own format. Put Apple1: in drive 1 and Apple2: in drive 2 to boot to the Pascal menu. You can find the book I referenced above in the Books/ directory of the Apple II Documentation Project.
