Any body still using Rev 3 SCSI cards?

I was wondering if anyone else here still owns and uses the last SCSI card for the Apple // (e and GS I think)?

Probably he´s talking about the rev.c SCSI card..... yeap- i use 2 of them since 1986 as well in II+ europlus, IIe and IIGS... i use to swap it in the system that is used in the very moment and it´s connected with an external SCSI-case that contains 3 aged micropolis drives ( each 150 MB ) a CD-ROM-drive ( the old ones with cartridges ) and a tape-drive... in 1996 i added 2 drives with 500 MB.....
1 micropolis with software for the II+, one micropolis with software for the IIe, one drive with software for the IIGS and in that drive a common space area to exchange data between the systems ( formatted with proDOS ) and the new ones again as archives for backups and some spare area for the G3 mac.

so if the the case is connected with the G3 its pluged in a adaptec 2906 and the G3 is normally operating with the OS 9.1 partition which permits me also to access the applepartitions without pain and permits me to swap back the case to the Apple SCSI again without trouble...

SpeedyG's probably right on his guess as Rev 3 sounds a lot like Rev C. But if you're talking about the last SCSI card from Apple then it'd be the Apple Hi-Speed SCSI card. Lots of people still use it. The Rev C was a great card too, I have one in a II+ and use one now and then in a IIe or IIgs. It's probably the most common SCSI card, at least in my area. Only SCSI card I disliked was the CMS though quite a few people seemed to love that card. My favorite SCSI card is the Ramfast though it has it's faults.

A lot of people have bought the CFFA card(a card that uses a Compact Flash card as a hard drive) and retired their SCSI system. I bought one of the first ones. Great card, fast, simple to setup. But I like being able to have a CDROM and a backup drive without having to use another slot. So mostly the CFFA card sits on a shelf and I use SCSI.

Yup I meant the HiSpeed SCSI card from Apple. I have one an Apple issue CD player I'm going to see if it all works and I can control the player from the Apple //e, just for a lark. Then I'm considering selling the card, cables, and CD player. I just downloaded the issued software from Asimov and will be porting it over on a CF with Rich's card. It is darn sweet.

I've never tried using software to control music CDs with a IIe. Let us know how it goes.

Years ago I towerized a IIe and used a NEC caddy loading CD drive with a Ramfast. This NEC has audio CD controls on the front of the drive.

Using a CF card in the IIe tower isn't an easy option. All the slots are used and I had to wire in a couple more. I am thinking about buying a SCSI CF reader though.
