Info on Sonus midi card and Glasstracks software

I'm selling off a big chunk of my computer collection on eBay. Can anyone tell me about this item?

It's a Sonus midi interface card. In the box. Looks unused. Some documentation also included. Fits into slot 2 and provides 3 midi ports. Will attach photos when im not on my phone.

Does this boost the music processing of the II? Something like a Mockingboard? Could you hook it up to speakers via a sound board or something and get good quality sound?

Also have this Glasstracks software from Sonus. The documentation
Looks totally bush league, but the packaging is fine. Any provenance on this program would be great, too.

If there's interest in this stuff I can list them for sale here.

Thanks for your help.

Have you researched what a MIDI interface is for??? It does the same thing the Current Ones on PC/Mac/Linux do..

You can only attach Files/Photos to the First Message in the Thread... ( This is a Drupal Limitation )

If you have the Photos on some other site, you can link to them...

Few games like Ultima V support the midi interface cards for for enhanced music, if you have a midi device like a Roland MT32 to provide the timbres. You can normally hook up a midi synth or keyboard to these to produce electronic music. Most came with multitrack software to record.

Post the link to your ebay stuff.
Thanks,
Rob

Re: Info on Sonus midi card and Glasstracks software

Midi is the electronic equivalent of those paper rolls that went into player pianos of the old west. A modern midi sequencer has 16 tracks which you can use to record music onto and play back. To use all 16 tracks that midi uses, you need a keyboard or sound module capable of receiving all tracks at once (This is referred to as a keyboard or module that is multitimbral). Midi has 16 channels, and what sounds are assigned to any given channel do vary between manufacturers, although some of them have attempted to create standards in the past:

In any case, the card and sequencing software you have is designed to work with a midi device to create midi music. The last step would be to record your work onto another device from the time such as the Alesis ADAT recorder:

Most modern equipment is moving away from MIDI in favor of USB, although there are midi interfaces for older IBM PC's that connect through the joystick port, but those require a special cable adapter to make it all work.
