Hello transwarp II guy,
if i remember well, that plates have been fixed with a contact glue ( similar to Patex ) that is temperature sensitive..... ( weakens when heated )
so it should be able to lift the plate by applying hot air just not too hot to affect the case....
maybe Corey986 can confirm....

On my Rev 4 Apple II before re painting it, I heated the badge up using a Hair dryer (hot air gun is way too hot) and managed to get the edge of an exacto knife razor blade under an edge and lifted carefully working it up. I'm not sure it's contact cement out of the factory. More like an adhesive backing on the badge. To reattach contact cement works.
Btw. I thank Mike Willegal for telling me how to get the plate off without damage, though I think the hair dryer was my idea.
Cheers,
Corey
Thanks guys, I'll have to try it out and see if it works.
Nylon fishing line, or dental floss. Start at a corner, and gently saw your way underneath it. That's how we did it back at the computer store.
Holy crap that's genius! There is basically no way for the plate to bend, yet it will still saw out the glue underneath.

Wow. I'm surprised I didn't think of that. I've used wax dental floss to debadge cars before. Never though about it for the apple badge.
Update:
Using a blow dryer and floss works great on removing apple II & II plus plates.
The IIe did not even need floss. There are holes on the back of the IIe's lid that allow you to push through with a paper clip. Just putting a blow dryer on there for about a minute and a half and pushing through the other side with a paper clip was enough to push the plates out.
