Hey, have a gentleman who bought some stuff from me who is looking for the Applied Engineering Super Input/Output board.

Working on recreating a project he did back in the 80's. In his words: "I am trying to restore a sort of oversized iPad I built with a fully loaded Apple II which I exhibited in the 1984-1986 time period...... I hope to build several of them. My project used a touch pad, videodisc player, audio card, switcher between the computer and video/videodisc signal, frame accurate computer control of the videodisc, etc......

I don't know whether I will be able to make changes in the software I developed, in which case I will need the same or similar cards. Once I receive the hardware you are sending, I will let you know what else I am looking for. I'll also be asking you for some advice, and am looking for someone who can help me support this project in various ways........"

"I wrote the software in the forth language (great real time language designed to control telescopes) in 1982-1987, and I doubt I will remember how it works enough to make any changes in it, so I have to replicate my system exactly."

I have told him to sign up on this site as it is an invaluable source for anything and everything Apple II related and he said he would be signing up.

Meantime, attached is a brochure of the card he is looking for. If anyone has one they are willing to part with I will put you in touch with him directly (unless he signs up here by then!!)so you can work out whatever deal you see fit. My goal is to get him what he needs however he can get it so I can see pictures/video of the final product!!

Zan,

Something else I have never seen or heard of.

Wow. AE must have made a bunch of things that never went big.

I had never seen one either. Every month or so something else pops up I never knew existed!

I have never seen one of these either. I thought I knew most all of the Applied Engineering products..

A Similar Product, and one that is available is the John Bell 79-295 I/O Card.

Software would need to be rewritten, but this would give you Input or Output to the Apple.

I sent the link on to the person in question, thanks for that. If you look at the quotes of his I posted he is trying not to have to re-learn Forth after 30 years. Apparently he has the software and just needs to rebuild the hardware configuration he used back in the day. Thank you very much for that link, in the event he cannot find what he wants at least there is an alternative!

The AE SIO was the precursor to the I/O 32 board (which is also hard to find). The odds of finding the original SIO are pretty remote.
