16sector in business?

I tried to order a card from 16sector but the paypal account wasn't working, so I dropped the fellow an email and got no return?

Anyone know if they are still in business?

Re: 16sector in business?

Let me first apologise for what I am about to say. I hate to have to say bad things abut people.

This man (TD) is a complete scam artist. He takes people's hard earned money and absconds with it. I am fairly sure he has not delivered a product for over 4 years, but has accepted money all that time. And despite enumerable excuses as to why, he goes off on a trip to Australia. Yes, hard up for cash for sure!

If you choose to send him money for anything, well, it's your own fault. The internet is full of a litany of folks he has ripped off.

Do not send him money!!! EVER

Thx for the heads up. Don't feel bad, word of mouth amongst a small community of hobbyist matters, one's reputation matters.

GGLabs sells a ram card and they'll even sell it as a kit for those of us who like to solder. Smile

Anyone have anything to say about GGLabs?

Go to their site and read the description of their 8MB card for the iigs. They say that it is not 100% DMA compatible. The description for their 4MB card for the iigs does not mention DMA at all.

I picked up two kits and had a fun time putting the first one together so far. If you don't need your hand held to identify components from a pile, this is the kit for you. There's a tutorial or two online, but it doesn't really come with instructions per se. There a super high resolution picture, so it's really not hard to figure out what goes where. Mine fired right up and worked first try.

Any suggestions?

Well, other than the gglabs ram card, the only other ram card you can get without problems (other than the 1MB apple one) is the one from Briel Computers.

As for a SD solution, people here have been talking about the "interesting device". Smile

Re: 16sector in business?

theslownorris,

1. The New "Focus" Card: CFFA/IDE (when they show up on eBay) $175.00 for first one,
half off if you buy one within six months of purchase of the first one.
2. The "Interesting Device": SD (From the website, or eBay) $72.00
3. The "CFFA 3000 (Rev *)" Rich Dreher's web site. New run due in Oct-Nov 2015 No pricing yet
4. The "Classic IDE for Apple II" from TechnoBytes.com (Brazil) CFFA/IDE Current run exhausted. New run in progress
(I believe it was $125.00 plus shipping from Brazil).

I currently have at least one each of these devices.

As it stands, these are your main choices for Drive devices.

Jeff Mazur and company are in the process of working/testing "Son of CDRIVE" which is a CFFA/IDE Device for the Apple IIc.

These devices are current and should cover your needs.

UPDATE

I forgot one:

5. The Smartport Virtual Hard Drive for the IIc, USB Stick, About a year and a half wait for mine. About $200.00 but I do not know what they cost now.

There's also Unisdisk, which emulates hard disks the same way as the SD Disk ][ a.k.a. "Interesting device". The Unisdisk connects to the smartport, so it's IIGS only.

By that, I hope you meant the MicroDrive Turbo from Reactive (now UltimateMicro)?

You are wrong Protek, the Unisdisk emulates both smartport and disk II, it works in all Apple models, I have used it in all of them personally.

Yes, the MicroDrive rocks, as does Henry Courbis and Reactive Micro.

You are absolutely correct. I forgot that it could also be connected to other models too. The smartport connector for tje Unisdisk is actually an adapter.
