Time to showcase my Apple 1 progress

First photo, most of the sockets installed.

Notice the BEL caps, and the Gold Regulator.

Here is the Cinch connector after modification (thanks Corey for the idea!), did some additional modifications (see if you can spot the differences).

And here is the current state, I have the memory and some other ICs, but didn't install them yet.

Just added the memory (period correct MK4096, hard to read) and some other IC's

Just added the additional ICs and the Axial 330ohm resistor.

MANY UPDATES!!! Thanks to Giuliano (MG Service SRL on eBay), and Richard Lynch for the help, advice and parts!!

1) Added AMI 6820 PIA
2) Added Spectrol POT
3) Changed Axial 25V capacitors to correct size and mfg
4) Changed Signetics ICs to period correct Fairchild ICs
5) Changed Diodes and Resistors to period correct parts (no yellow bands, and fairchild diodes).
6) Added missing BEL .1 capacitors

1) Added Period Correct MOS 6820 CPU
2) Added Apple1 PROMs (thanks Corey)!

Looks great...

Love the pana-vise. That thing must big tremendous to hold the Apple-1. I usually don't use one, but seeing yours, is making me thing twice about that.

Cheers,
Corey

Re: Time to showcase my Apple 1 progress

Using a 18" bar, its a perfect fit. It holds pretty well, and makes working on it and displaying it a delight.

Any feedback on parts I should swap for more period correct ones (ex: looking for a spectrol POT)?

Also, I put a silicon spacer in-between the LM323K and the PCB, is that needed? I don't see it on other Apple 1 photos.

Re: Time to showcase my Apple 1 progress

Hello Sdinet,
first i have sent reply for trade by pm.

second... you my use at LM323K spacers if they do not isolate....
heatsink gets rather hot, so spacer is not bad idea....

up to the pictures : really nice work done - keep ahead that way...

related to the spectrol resistortrimmer....
a year ago corey986 had great luck to purchase one....
since then i have not seen anyone again .... so chance to get one correct is dropping to zero.....
i´d recommend to focus on getting one with most possible "look alike".....

for the Proms i´d recommend you to get them ready to use programmed from member Mike Willegal ( also from site where you can order the MIMEO PCB )

the Mostek 6502 is also sometimes offered in ebay in the branch for the "Commodore64"

the DS0025C has become in the last year very difficult to get....
some rare times they get offered from recycler in USA.... and they demand 30 to 40 bucks per chip....

sincerely

Re: Time to showcase my Apple 1 progress

A spacer on the regulator is not needed since the case of the LM323K is at 0 volts or ground.

I do not use the spacer since it reduces thermal transfer efficiency between the regulator and heatsink.
I do use thermal conductive compound to improve the heat transfer efficiency,
since it fills up the uneven surfaces(not visible un-magnified) between the regulator and heatsink.

Are you looking for IC's with datecode from 1976?... I have many of these but with later manufacturing dates...

I've been filling in the holes with solder, look at the bottom row and let me know if you think I should continue...

Wow, very nice setup. How did you get the BEL 0.1uF caps? I've got a PET 2001-8 that needs new caps, and I'd love to replace it's BEL caps with originals. Can't find them anywhere.
