There is a thing that we call reading....

this is 3rd thread within 24 hours related to same topic....
what about just posting: "hey guys i'd like you to write a program for me...."

just my 5 cents

There is a thing that we call reading....
do you expect also your mom to "pre-cheew" your food or
are you just sorry about the fact that there is still no thing that you might call:
"learning transplantation".....
what's the problem to read a book or reading the contributed pages...?

just my 5 cents

That attitude is not welcome, especially since it was a valid question. If you don't want to help, simply don't reply.

Hello Doc Webster,

Of course you have viewed before you issued response the previous thread;
that served the answers - before this one was started ....

but yes - you are correct and i appologize....
in former BBS days that just caused the famous 4 letter reply "RTFM"....

sincerely

It is in somewhat poor form to open what's mostly a duplicate thread when another one is running already. But, yes, as Dr. Webster pointed out, if you don't have the desire or patience to answer questions you think are too elementary to bother with you do indeed have the option to simply ignore them.

Re: color in character sets in hgr mode

Well what Eudimorphodon called a "poor form" is only a symptom....

in fact the problem is a bit more complex....
within the last year the amout of new members grew constantly....
at the one hand it's good news and it will ensure the future of the panel....
at the other hand some problems get rising at the horizon....

it seems that in times of "social media" slight differences in behaviour
get rising up in the east with the sun.....
fast action and fast replies seem to lead at the "new generation" to the opinion that in ages
of "24 hour round the clock" shopping service also this forum has to act as a kind of
"24 hour round the clock" free helpdesk for instant support service....

aAnd if there is no reply within the "demanded/expected" time of 12 hours the expected
answer is given - then start to "spam" the board with "Spam-threading" kicking off others
from the list of running threads to "ensure" that only the "own demanding thread" is visible
in the list....

this is not "poor form" - this is unfair behaviour against other members in the forum
because it drops the chance of the previous threads from other members to get a reply for their
questions.... it's bad and egoistic behaviour....
- and i've seen this kind of behaviour within the last 6 months at least half a dozend of times....

Walking along this thoughts also is related to other aspects....
i have repeated dozends of times to new members that it's good habit to first examine previous threads
related to the demanded topic to check if there allready a solution has been explained....
Spam Threads are contradictiv to that advise because the listing gets crowded by
obvious "spam threads" instead of those threads that really contain the searched
information..... causing similar bad results like the "hijacking" of threads
by topics that are not even close related to the initial posting with which the posting started up....

Another problem seems to be what i would call "instant support desk" .....
it seems that ages of printed media has realy passed away....
Spotting books or contributions to a user and then realizing that the user didn't even waste the time to
read the headline in the book or contribution not to talk about reading the content itself....
that's what happened in this thread....
thats also the reason why i spotted to the "expectation of pre-chewed info" and now spotted to the
famous former 4 letter reply "RT..."

but like Dr.Webster told....
it was mistake from my side to violate by myself the netiquette....
so like i told: i aplolgize and in future i'll just lean back and watch in such cases ....
we' ll just recognize which line the panel will walk along in future...
