What is the definitive way to check which Rev your Apple II is?

I like your new handle ...

The REV is listed to the left side of the motherboard, but along with the Rev. number is also a
4 or 5 digit production number which is located above the power plug. (back-left of PCB)
If you have a ][ or ][ Plus, you have "essentially" the same machine. Only engineering improvements
between them but the overall function is pretty much the same, sans the Integer or Applesoft ROMS.

I'm brand new to the forum, so apologies if I'm asking a question that could easily be Googled... I did search around for a good hour before coming here to post

What is the definitive way to check which Rev your Apple II is?

I know you can look under the 6502 IC for some Apple II's, but I'm not sure what the codes underneath actually mean e.g. How is Rev0 represented under the IC?

Here is what I know.. ( I own a Rev-03 Apple ][ and an Apple ][+ with a Rev-01 Board.. )

For Rev-00 to Rev-04, the number under the CPU is Rev indication.. ( e.g. Rev 03 is "820-0001-03", Rev 01 is "820-0001-01" ) and Starting with Rev-04, there will be a "REV 04" on the Mainboard, by Slots 4 & 5, visible without removing the CPU.

With Rev-07 boards, the Rev Indicator is on the Left Side, like macnoyd mentioned..
Also the RAM Block are gone on the Rev-07 Boards.. So if you have the RAM Blocks, ( e.g. 4K or 16K ) on the Left Edge, you have a Rev-00 to Rev-04 Mainboard.

Rev-0 are easy. No Colour Killer transistor and large prototyping area.

Then it's down to the are the slots dark or light to determine if it's newer or older. Light green are the older Rev-0 PCBs.
