Here is a Disk II clone I found in a Apple II+ that someone is asking me to help them repair. This thing was the culprit. It is broken and I doubt if it's worth fixing unless it is the rarest Disk II clone controller on the planet. Smile

No there is no manufacturer name on the front or back. the only thing on it is the "518400" sticker and a S/W near the "TBP28S42N" PROM chip.

Thanks,
Jay

I have seen one of these. I might even have one but it would be buried pretty deep in my collection. The EPROM was a replacement for the 2 PROMS as I recall. I don't see anything particularly special about this board (my opinion) other than it being one of the few Disk Drive clone boards out there. The Rana Systems board is what I wish the Apple Disk ][ board was, as it drove 4 floppy drives out of 1 card instead of only 2.
Do you plan on fixing the board?

Thanks Macnoyd,

I am not sure. I will check with the owner and see what he wants to do. This controller did boot a diskette, it just took over two minutes to boot a plain DOS 3.3 disk. When I put the Apple Controller in, it took about 25 seconds.

I know I have one card with connectors on the end like that but I don't recall anything more about it. I'll see if it's handy when I get home.

No luck. I have about 20 controllers in one drawer. Not there so it's in storage. I'm hoping to find a couple of days to look through one of my storage lockers soon. More interested in locker that mostly has Mac stuff but should have another Apple III and profile drive
