Apple II Key-2

Hi,
I have an Apple II Rev.01 with Keyboard Rev-2

The System starts With Applesoft prompt after 1 +4 beeps, sometimes two ] prompts and a slash /,
I swapped it for another keyboard and it works fine...

when the original Keyboard is installed ,only working :

-Light Power Key
-Reset

The rest doesn't

Any tips how to start to make it working again?

Thanks.

Hi Wayne,
Swapping for a working one today I realized that the Big IC (KB Encoder?) is Faulty

Any idea where to get one of them?
Thanks.

MM5740/AAE are very hard to find, and there is a fair chance that even if you find one, that it will not work. For some reason, a high percentage of them on the surplus market are faulty.

note that AAC and AAD suffixes will not work, they have a different encoding scheme. I think an AAF might work in the Apple II application, but don't know for sure.

you might try surplus businesses like littlediode.com that has a listing for them, but no stock.

There are still a few out

There are still a few out there, not exactly cheap but ...

I would first insure this is for the 40 pin IC, as their photo indicates otherwise.

Just FYI, on the auction page it says the seller is away until October 8.
