Hotmail Replacement

Hi all,

Since Micro$oft has discontinued support for the HTTP Mail Plugin, I can't get any of my mail without logging on to the host sites. Is there any way of importing my mail into Mail with any of my addresses? I have a Hotmail account, a Yahoo account and a GMail account. I want to use the Mail.app for receiving e-mail (preferably from GMail), but I will gladly shift over to any one of the accounts if I can get any of them to work with Mail. Any ideas? Thanks!

Gmail doesn't have POP3 or IM

Gmail doesn't have POP3 or IMAP support so it can't be used with Mail currently (though they may add it when it goes public). AFAIK Yahoo used to offer IMAP support... but that was years ago (so they have probably discontinued/started charging for it by now).

Your best option might be to sign up for Spymac. They give you a free email account when you sign up which has 1GB of storage with POP3 support... so it will work in Mail!

This is true, however until some server upgrades get done (within a few weeks), there is some downtime, and the service isn't as reliable as a lot of folks would hope. But hey, I only hear the bad stories.

Yeah, their webmail interface seems to have a lot of downtime. However the POP3 part of the account still works fine, so you can still check your mail through a 3rd party site, such as Mail2Web, and through Mail on your mac.

Update your Plug-In

My httpMail plug-in still works fine. Just make sure you've got the latest version. 1.41

I'll be damned. It works! Thanks LTong! Acute
