Thank you, althought I have one question.
The cable originally came with a centronics 25 pin end, can I use the same pinoutto make a short cable with a DB 25 pin female connect so I can use a standard parallel cable?
No, you cannot use the same pin-out as there are subtle differences between the Centronics parallel connector and the DB-25 parallel connector. See image below:
