Dead Apple?

Hi All,

I received an Apple IIe today which I am told has been in storage for a number of years. It looks clean enough inside but it does not power up.

It is a 120v model so I hooked it up with a suitable transformer but the supply voltage does not get past the IEC power socket. This looks to have some built in filtration but I get no voltage at the output side.

is it possible that the filter has failed?

Would it be ok to replace it with a non filtered type just to prove that the machine will power up?

Any help gratefully received!

Thanks,

Richard.

Richard,

Are you in the US, or UK, or where? Smile

Re: Dead Apple?

Hi Steven,

I am in the UK so I am using a stepdown transformer. I'm pretty sure the power filter in the IEC socket has gone pop somehow and if I can't get a replacement I was going to fit a none filtered one temporatily just to see if the IIe would power up.

Thanks,

Richard
