Ramfast rev. D + ZIP GSX

Hi,

i have a lot of problems getting a Ramfast rev. D 1MB to work together with a ZIP GSX 15/64. With a HS-SCSI (Sandwich II) or A2 SCSI Card there are no problems. The CFFA3K works perfectly as well. If i switch the ZIP GSX to 1Mhz on SLOT1 (Ramfast) the System 6.01 boots half way (SCSI HD) and stops. The same System boots perfectly on a fast SLOT1 with a HS-SCSI. If i replace the ZIP GSX with the regular 65816, seems to be ok. I tired several combinations of cache and osc on the ZIP GSX , but the Ramfast will never work correctly. Once i got it running for a longer time (ca. 30 min without error) and could even try some Benchmarks. The Ramfast gave me about 3x-4x the performance (170-180k/s write, 380-450k/s read) of a HS-SCSI and about 2x the performance of a CFFA3K with a industrial 2GB Transcend CF.

I have the impression, that it might be the 1Mb cache that is the culprit (sometimes the Ramfast will only show 256k or give a cache error). I have to try some 256kx4 Ram ICs some time later or replace the 1Mx4 with others.

All I can say is that I've used a Ramfast extensively with a ZipGS with zero problems. The Ramfast has always been my favorite SCSI card.
