Is there any chance that one of you might have a repair manual or schematic for the SONY KV-5200 (1979 colour NTSC portable television)?
I have one that does not power on, at all, and it is a beast to take apart. Before I tear it down, it;d be nice to know where to look for faults. This telly use DC12V or AC120V, so perhaps something in the switching circuit is stuck? It also had a battery pack from the factory, but I see no reason why it would not work if there was no battery and it was not set in charging mode; although perhaps the charging mode circuit is stuck?

That's for the KV-12xx series; a different line of normal size CRTs. The KV-5XXX series are 5-inch CRTs (SD-59 Trinitron).
I uploaded the service manual for the KV-5200 here: https://www.applefritter.com/file/sony-kv-5200-service-manualpdf ; should anyone else have one an need to repair it. I might look into converting it to a base RGB display at some point, eliminating the tuner, or otherwise creating my own driver board.
Now that I know the correct procedure for disassembly and don't need to guess, and I can see some of the logic involved, there are possibilities even should I be unable to repair it to its original state.
I'm not sure what the pitch is on the SD-59, but if it is high-enough, it could in theory be used for text, if I cut out all of the RF demodulation that tens to cause distortion from a standard composite signal.
