Just a guess, but this might have been owned by Apple at one time for use in one of their European offices.
Looks awfully like an asset tag.
Metal Tag with adhesion to the Unit?? That is an Asset Tracking Tag... For Apple Computer.

MarkO's completely right; I have a internally-owned Lisa that has the same style tag.
I have seen other companies use the same method.. I have a broken Hat Rack, ( it reminds me of the One in the Fourth Doctor's TARDIS ), with the Asset Tracking Tag from the company I worked for..
