DNS Servers Being hacked

Between my friends and I, we have been examining the phenomenon that sites have been going down, as well as the WhoIS database switching names. Stuff on Microsoft's DNS is coming out like "MICROSOFT.COM.OHMYGODITBURNS.COM" and other names. it rolls over to new info every time I whois it.
And Apple is having the same done to them. The internet is slowing down (like webservers) and even my ISP's site is slow (not like it's slow enough already) I have also noticed increased attacks on my firewall (i got logging turned, it keeps filling up the logs on the airport extreme) and am wondering if I should be panicking or what?

yes i have a firewall, and all that, but how long has this security been comprimised, and should i worry?

Sounds like something going o

Sounds like something going on at your ISP. I haven't noticed any problems either at home or at work (and believe me, I'd notice if we had a problem at work).

it's not just my ISP

I got friends in Australia, as well as the UK and the USA. We all do a whois request, and keep coming up with these weird names (sometimes rather lewd) and even some of the less popular sites are having this happen to them. Which is why i am thinking the world DNS servers are being hacked. I have noticed a lot of sites that I visit, don't work, and I have tried them on 2 different networks, as well as friends on other ISPs not able to access them. So, it's not just my ISP.

But the fact that this is happening to Apple is what worries me.

hey,

There is a website with that name:

http://www.ohmygoditburns.com/

Non-porno. Just had to look it up.

on some of apple's

there are URLs showing up pointing to German File Sharing sites (not going to link to them)

Including stuff like "Microsoft.Com.Needs.To.Get.****.Com (leaving the word out, since it is vulgar)

These aren't DNS server hacks

These aren't DNS server hacks. Those domains are showing up because people are making subdomains that contain another domain, not because they're hacking someone's domain. If you're concerned about your DNS service, look into OpenDNS (http://www.opendns.com/).

I just read the website you mentioned. I did see that it won't provide some services if you already are using a web accellerator (cache). Sounds great, almost to good to be true. I was ready to try it but changed my mind. Something seems fishy.
