Is there some way I can install system 7.5 on my Mac SE whose only floppy drive is an 800k drive?

suggest you, don't install 7.5.3 in this machine

you want to install 7.5.3 in macintosh se,do you know se require how many ram inside?only 4mb,like os 7.1 require 8mb.beside se30 can used to 128mb,if you install os7.5.3 you can feel like type is so slowly.or startup.so I don't suggest you install in it.you can use 7.1 cdrom or use scsi cdrom to install it.

4mb

I read that 4mb was all that was required to get it running, and recently upgraded to 4mb.

Oh, I think I see what you're saying, it'll work, but really slow.

Is there somewhere I can buy scsi peripherals still? I'd like to get a scsi cdrom and a scsi external hard drive (perhaps more, peripherals, if there are any that are worthwhile.)

hi,I remind my first time installed os7.1 in se,I use chinese version.this one require all files copy to harddisk.so I use old way to into in it.or use scsi cdrom and more.you can look for another 7.1 english version harddisk and connect to scsi port.all files copy to ur se machine.so you can get this os7.1 if you don't mind.I can let you download 7.1 all files.you can burn cd.then use scsi drug to harddisk.you can use se for os7.1

Any idea where I can get a drive?

I looked a little, but either I wasn't searching for the right thing, or there were none.

network install

actually, if you have a second mac, and a 8 pin male to male serial cable, you can do a network install. Just make a boot floppy with a minimal system on it, and make sure you have apple file sharing extensions and the chooser in their proper locations. Then, connect the two macs, download and expand all 19 parts of 7.5.3 on the other mac, select sharing, and make sure you share the first image (I think it appears on the desktop as a CD), then open chooser on the other mac, and connect to the other machine, and mount the system 7.5.3 image on the desktop, and double click on the installer.

Make sure you have time on your hands, it takes a couple hours over serial.

link

forgot to link to this, it's on apple's servers, 19 1.4mb images. It's legal too, they released them about 5 years ago, IIRC, maybe longer.

System 7.5.3
