Need Help Getting External Hard Drive Working. Recomend Anyone?

Hello.. I am sure that there are some pretty talented people in this Forum that work with Apple II hardware. One that knows how to properly diagnose problems and fix them. Can someone recommend a person in this Forum that is good with Accessing and Retrieving Data from an External Hard Drive for the Apple II? I'm not even sure an Service exists for this or not. If you guys can help , I would appreciate any feedback on this matter. I understand that nothing is a gaurantee when it comes to working with Vintage Hardware , but you have to start somewhere.

Thanks.

Are you talking about a known

Are you talking about a known defective drive, or an unknown drive that you just don't have an adapter for?

Was working at one time.

Actually the hard drive did infact work at one time. I believe the card that runs the hard drive has a missing pin on it. I tried to access the hard drive through other means , such as Copy ][ PLUS but once I got in , it gave me a BYTE Error. Not exactly sure if it is the card itself emulating this problem or not. The drive is being worked on right now , but I think the person has comes to grips with it and cannot get it to go, so I thought i'd take a second approch to it and let someone take the rains on it and see what can be done. The drive is a Truster by DataMac its a 20 meg drive if I'm not mistaken . So that's basically it.

See ya

I have an Xebec SASI controller that should talk to the Trustor. I can give it a try. Send me a PM if you're interested.

Card Type?

Patrick,

What type of card are you using to access this drive? SCSI, SuperSCSI, what? Software that came with card? This may help narrow it a little. Smile

Good question , I will find out....

Good question! Xybek? Zybek? Something like that , I can find out no problem though , from the guy that is trying to get it running. I know that the drive has DOS 3.3 installed because in the beggining it would give a Syntax Error and drop to a DOS promt and let me access each Volume... But I will find out :O)
