Tangerine...
Looks like a tangerine with the clear parts removed, painted black and reinstalled. Hard to tell from the picture if the painting was done to the fron or cak of the plastics, especially on the keyboard/console areas.
Either way, for painting these cases check out http://www.applefritter.com/taxonomy/term/62 for details on how and what was done to some machines. I imagine the technique would work well if applied to the back/inside of the translucent parts as opposed to the outer side.

2. Open it in an image editing program and invert the colours
3. Step three? There is no step three..
