errant users in netinfo manager

just learning more about my mac and went wandering though my util's folder and ran Netinfo Manager, Under users on my localhost there seems to be quite a few users eg, cyrus, nobody, mailman, daemon that I certainly didn't create. Also extra groups etc created alias etc. Are these things created by OS X or is someone gaining access to my system. And if so, how do i stop this? Any help or info would be apprech.

Don't worry

those are system users that the system uses to run commands at. Daemon is usually processes like printing and webserveing. The only people users are what you see in the the accounts or users tabs in the system prefs. Most likely those "users" that you are referring to are generally to verify what part the system processes has access to run certain things. Those are permissions. if one system process requires to do something that is out of it's area, it will prompt you with a dialog asking you to put n a password to allow it to go outside it's area to do something. These are most likely applications that need something
