(IIgs) SS RAM-GS expansion chips

Hey all -

I've recently started to get back into my IIgs and that includes opening them up and re-aquainting myself with what's installed.

My ROM 3 GS has a RAM expansion from Sequential Systems, (c) 1991, one of the cards without the RAM-GS silkscreening.  It's a 2MB card with the open row of sockets available for expansion.

printtok/cc65 update: ideas?

Hi!  I'm working on an update of my printtok.c module that will use a modified version of Infocom's ZSCII technique and tokenization to compress text.  The current version only uses tokenization, is inferior and only helped a text adventure's text by about 13%.  While I'm working on it, does anybody here have any ideas on how I can better compress text such that each string doesn't have to reference a previous string?

DOS 3.3: which file to download?

Hi!  I just Googled and found Apple DOS 3.3 disks at APPLE2.ORG.ZA - Mirrors.  I want one for future projects including an Apple2 port of my text adventure codes.  I am looking for an empty DOS 3.3 disk image on which I can put DOS 3.3 programs.  Unfortunately, the site has several DOS 3.3 disk images, and I don't know which one to download.  Which file should I choose?

Copies of "The Applesoft Tutorial"

I have found myself teaching a computers class (something that falls outside my regular purview) as a result of staff shortages at my school, and I'm wanting to introduce coding to the kids using BASIC. The trouble is, there really was never a good curriculum to follow for something like this because BASIC as a language isn't commonly taught anymore and I feel like most of the teachers that WOULD have taught BASIC all created their own stuff anyway.

Cross-platform Apple2/Windows users: Template Creator

Okay.  I apologize for the SPAM--the administrator here can remove this message--but I have a program called Template Creator.  It is a program that creates, handles, organizes and uses templates.  There are versions for DOS, Windows and the C64.  The C128 version currently doesn't work, and I want to port it to the Apple2.  It is located at tmpcreat - Manage Files at SourceForge.net.  I have some templates for it.  It has little for the Apple2 user, but I am accepting donations in the form of Apple2-emulation-related templates,

cc65: creating an Apple2 ProDOS system program?

Hi!  I've been working on a memory enhancement for the Apple2enh target for cc65, and the emulator went directly into the monitor.  :(  It seems to have extra data in the beginning of the file.  I assume this data is not supposed to be there.  Earlier today, I tried to write a program to test how cc65 handles text for the Apple2 series and got the same results.  I must be doing something wrong.  I checked the cc65 docs. and tried to remove the header.  Same result.  How do I compile a cc65 program for the Apple2?

cc65 optimizations online!

Hi!  When I program, I enjoy optimizing my programs.  In fact, I have 50 optimization techniques for cc65 online at c65 additions - Manage Files at SourceForge.net, and most of them are mine.  I ask you to try them out and tell me what you think.

C64 Pics online; Apple2 pics?

Hi!  I like the C64.  It has some good games.  In fact, I have a lot of good screenshots of them at c65 additions - Manage /c64_game_pics at SourceForge.net.  They are mainly in the form of Windows wallpaper, screenshots as .bmp files and Win98 startup screens.  Now, I'm asking if there are any good Apple2 games with graphics good enough to do this, and, if there are, their names and how to get a screenshot from the AppleWin emulator.  Thank you.

How to delete corrupted ProDOS files that begin with an asterisk

I cannot delete a couple of directories because they contain corrupted files that begin with an asterisk. This occurred from trying to get AppleWorks v 5.x to install correctly. The files and associated directories were deleted using the utilities that come with Prosel (8-bit) as this is all occurring inside of the AppleWin emulator. Both Prosel 8 and Prosel 16 utilities, the latter running under GSplus both indicate that the directories under discussion and the files within them do not exist on the volume under discussion.
