Disk II Floppy Drive Missing RF Shield

Hi All,

I recenty got a three Apple Disk II 5.25 drives (AM2M0003).  I noticed that one drive has an RF shield inside and the other two drives have the RF shield missing.  I'm wondering if it's missing because someone took it out and forgot to put it back in, or was this something that was added/removed as some point in production at the factory.

The one with the shield intact has never had it's internal screws removed, while the other two with the missing shield show signs of screws being removed for servicing.  So my hunch is that someone took the shields out perhaps?

Apple 3.5 Drive issues

I have an Apple 3.5 drive on a IIgs that does not eject by dragging to the trash or by pushing the eject button. When dragging to trash, the drives spins and stops/spins stops and spons and stops... eventually hte icon goes to the trash, but the drive keeps up with the spin/stop. Id I push the ecect button, nothing happens.

Any hints on what may be wrong and how to fix?

Any and all help appreciated.

Apple 3.5 Drive source

Does anyone know of a reliable source for Apple 3.5 Drives (the IIgs 3.5" drives). Ebay drive quality is notoriously suspect. Apple Rescue of Denver is out pf stock.

Or... is there a reliable repair vendor?

Any and all help appreciated.

Apple IIe Card in overclocked Color Classic MYSTIC

Although I've been a Mac fan since the 128K, my first experience in using anything related to the Apple II was this past August (2022). I purchased an Apple IIe Card & Y-cable for my Macintosh Color Classic Mystic, and I must say that it has a learning experience. I made the following video to show how I recapped the IIe card. I then provided a general overview of the features and software. The good news is that the card works even if you have a 68040 overclocker and the VGA mod installed (with some caveats).  This is only Part I of what I intend to make a 2 or 3 part series.

Apple II/II+/IIe Utility

Hi All:

I think I am loosing my mind.  I could swear there was an Apple utility that provided a way to querry the machine for which cards are installed/recognized.

I have tried all my utility disks but can't seem to find it.  Even Google has failed me.

Anyone recall which utility does this?

Thanks

Mark

Gmail access on an Apple II

I got my Apple IIGS online using an Uthernet II ethernet card this week. So far I have been able to copy files over my LAN from my Mac to the IIGS using FTP. Cool and convenient. But I really want to get it online. Most modern websites are going to be too complex (not to mention encrypted) for the IIGS but email, especially personal, plaintext messages to and from friends, should be fine.

Apple 2+ found in storage

So my boss found an Apple 2 + in his attic and its missing a power cord and a monitor. I need to be able to test it and see if it works. Would a standard PC power cord work with the power supply? And would a male to male component video cable off Amazon work to hook up to a TV?
