Apple II

Appleworks freezing on print screen.

Hey I just recently picked up an apple iic and I don't have any prior experience with one I am a 1993 baby so it's all new to me so I'm just figuring everything out slowly  This is the first time I've done anything with a 5.25 floppy drive, I Remember using 3.5 floppy in school but it wasn't for very long.

Colour output missing (Apple II+)

For some reason I'm not getting any colour output from my II+ clone. The monitor (composite input) is attached to the video output on the back of the computer. Other than that there are no other issues with the video (it displays fine, but only in black/white), and everything else appears to work on the computer.

So I looked up the Applebox diagram (which illustrates what each IC does) and I've swapped the following ICs, alas without any difference:

ADTPro beginner questions

I've got ADTPro (2.0.2/Mac OSX 10.9) working great with my II+ using the cassette ports (it took a while to get the audio levels right, but worked fine after that).

Now I'm ready to move on and speed things up with a USB to serial adapter on the Mac connected to an Apple Super Serial card. I have a few questions:

Hard drive for the Apple II

I have a Corona Starfire 5 hard drive for the Apple II that has been in a dusty closet for over 20yrs. The other day I plugged it in to a IIe and to my suprize it booted. It appears all of the 33 partitions are readable. Wow... Who would have thought. I have a short video that is too big to up load here so I put it on Youtube. If you search for Corona Starfire you might find it.

If anyone has any docs or the origional s/w for this please let me know.

Duodisk analog board troubleshooting

I'm trying to troubleshoot the analog board on a DuoDisk unit.  It's a 676-[]102.  Specifically, of of the two main jumpers (J3 and J4), J4 appears to be dead.  That is both disk drives spin when connected to J3, but neither do on J4, additionally, the LED is constant on for the J3 side, but not at all for the J4 side.

Leisure Suit Larry

For the life of me, I can't find Leisure Suit Larry roms anywhere. At least, not ones that work. I've found some, and it will start, but when I hit a key to start the game, it just goes black.

Troubleshooting the II+ cassette interface

UPDATE 2: ... and now I've gotten the 16K RAM card to work as well! Things are apparently moving forward quickly today!

Could be reseating some ICs, the IDC cable, the card itself in the slot or something else.. In any case it appears to work now and I've even gotten ADTpro to transfer with ProDOS, so that's one HUGE leap forward! I am however confused about some details regarding ADTpro, but think I'll post about that separately.

UPDATE 1: I just discovered that the cassette IN actually works! (after posting my message below).

Apple III video issues

hello i just joined this forum in hopes to get my apple III working again.

i have what i believe to be the mem diag screen. however it takes up the entire screen and is mostly random garbage.

however if i remove the ram board completely i get a solid white screen.

i have tried reseating all the chips on the motherboard. and i swapped around ram chips to see if i could atleast get it to display a normal mem test. nothing i did changed it.

the on light on the keyboard is also working.

does anyone know where i should start looking?

Maybe it’s a clone?

I was on the hunt for old keyboards and a guy in my area was selling off all the parts from his former computer repair business. One picture showed a bit of what appeared to be 70's vintage in a very large case. They were Honeywell Hall effect switches (cool!) but I opened up the case and there was some kind of motherboard in there. He asked for $10 and I walked away happy.

Apple III without any text

Hi Applefritter, this is my first thread in this fine forum.

I have an Apple III bought on ebay. It was sold as defect, it was dead on arrival. Model  A3S1 no 57901  motherboard  820-0043-00E  5V memory board, american keyboard. The power supply was dead. Defect KB lamp. A defect trace on the MB so no voltage to the KB. After replacing with a new PSU, new KB lamp and repair of the Mb the Apple III is partially working.
