Apple II+ Vertical Lines

Hello all,

I recently inherited an Apple II+ (RFI rev), and it seems to boot fine, but it has some serious vertical lines on the video output. I've been troubleshooting to the best of my ability, and have had no luck whatsoever getting it to work.

Things I've done so far:

IIgs video out put suddenly not centered vertically

Yesterday I was using my IIgs and around the time of a reboot, I noticed horizontal lines looking like a comb at the top of my screen (I later found out this is called "folding over" in CRT terms.  i used the vertical size adjustment on the monitor to get rid of them, but then noticed I was left with an image where things looked squished vertically, and the image seemed to be off center.  There was a larger blue border at the bottom than top.

Someone help me with this.... Sup'r'Switcher

For some reason I was looking back through sold items on ebay and came across this apple II plus which the seller says was owned by his uncle who worked for NASA in the 80's and 90's. What caught my eye was the "third" drive case which turns out is a power supply? That's the best I can tell, but I wasn't able to find details through my sup'r'crappy search skills so I though I'd ask here.

Win98/Apple2 disk handling again

Hi!  I am working on stuffing a new Win98SE computer and want to hook it up for my work, including programming.  I still have a Zip disk with cc65 on it and want to update it to a new version.  Now, a while ago, I asked here about a command-line utility that runs under Windows 98 abnd got an answer, but I don't remember the nams and can't find the thread.  I tried several search requests but couldn't find it.  :)  IIRC, I did download it.  Can somebody here give me the name of the program, so I can search for it in my Downloads folder?  Thanks.

Apple Monitor II recently stopped working

I've had my original apple iie and Monitor II since I was a teenager.  Its been working great all these years until the other day a friend asked about it and I booted it up. The computer sounded fine but the monitor display was having issues.  I finally got it to display after tweaking the knobs and then shut it down. Now I tried to use it again and the power light is on the monitor but I do not see any video being displayed. I tried adjusting brightness and contrast but do not see any image.

Hi there,

I'm on my tedious task to restore an IMC-2001 (Taiwanese Apple ][ and CP/M clone) to working order.

Apple II Plus won't boot (no beep, screen full of squares)

Hi all, me again. I am really appreciative of everyones help with things so far. Unfortunately one of my problems got worse!

The machine has never liked sitting since trying to resurrect it, if I leave it overnight unplugged, the next day it will often fail to start without fidding.

5.25” Floppy

Howdy folks,

I've got a 5.25" floppy disk that used to just boot up in BASIC with a home made loader. At some point, it just stopped working. Side B works, though.

What is the best method that I can go about making a backup of this disk in its current state and then dissecting the data in hex... or something?

I am hoping to either recover what's left, figure out what got corrupted, or simply figure out the names of the programs that were on Side A.

Thanks for all your insights!!

Apple //c monitor transformer replacement

Hi all,

One of my apple 2c monitors have a faulty AC transformer. The secondary coil is open. That's a 16V AC one. I'd like to replace it, it won't be identical but as long as it fits...

The original one is 60x60x50mm. The ones I can find online are 60x50x32 but only 20W. According to the schematics, the 16VAC is a 1A line so that's 16W. 20W transformer feels a bit tight. But all listings I can find online show the same dimensions.

Are there any options anybody could think about?

Thanks!

Videx Videoterm clone, no display output and no beep. Help? :)

Hi all, I am having some issues with my Unitron 80 column card (Videx clone). The machine was sat for 30+ years so I have no idea whether it had any pre-existing issues, but lets assume not!
