Strange iie problem

Hey guys.

Got a strange problem with my iie.

The power supply has got this strange sweet smell coming out of it.

I thought it was the power supply because when I try to play this game, every disk gets errors, usually the same error at the same sector.

And the amount of files on the disk always gets cut by 2/3.

How "impressive"/collectable are frankensteined Apple IIs?

I could certainly answer my own question by the fact that anything with proper original labels, serials, etc. would be more desirable to have.

I just bought an Apple IIe and am having touble setting it up. Please help.

Hello. I bought an Apple IIe at a garage sale, and I am having trouble setting it up. Please help. I can hook up the monitor and the keyboard/computer unit OK. I turn on the monitor and it says "Apple IIe", so I know that works OK. And I can type on the keyboard fine. But the problem is can't seem to get the floppy disk drives working. I put in a floppy disk and I press down, and nothing happens. I have two floppy disk drives, one labeled "1", and one labeled "2". Each floppy drive has a connector cord, as well as a port to plug in. How am I supposed to hook these up?

Mouse not moving cursor to left on Apple IIc Plus

Hello.

Have an Apple Iic Plus, and recently aquired an Apple serial mouse.

Running both Apple Desktop and MousePaint, I can get the cursor to move any direction but left. Took out the ball to check for gumming and saw none. Then moved the guide inside the mouse, and rolling it either direction took the cursor only to the right.

So does that sound like an issue with the mouse, or the Apple?

Micromodem II

I'm surprised (not that I'm trying to pawn mine off) that the Hayes MicroModem II is not a more desired item. They go for a-dime-a-dozen on ebay. And there's little to no discussion about these or their history.

Any original PigSty BBS members here?

I used to belong to what was then a very elite BBS called the Pig Sty.
It was limited to 50 members. Someone had to leave (or die) in order for new members to join.

Many of the members were well-known hackers of the era: The Cracker, The Gonif, Long John Silver, etc.
At the time, I was "The Equalizer."

This era was the early to mid 80's.
The board was run by an extremely nice and generous man named Mort.
His online handle was "The City Slicker"
Mort passed away some time ago.
