Would anyone be interested in connecting to a new BBS?

At the moment I think I'll keep it by invitation only. There's certainly a question of network security by putting up the DNS and my IP address all over the web.

IIgs sound stuff

I don't believe a ROM 1 gs puts out stereo sound, correct?

Anybody have any experience with this device?
http://apple2.org.za/gswv/a2zine/GS.WorldView/Resources/A2GS.NEW.PRODUCTS/Sound.Interactor.html

Also, would this card give stereo sound system wide or just with speech synth card use?

Any tips would be great.

Randy Hyde

In my pursuit for greating understanding
of the Apple ][, I am coming across information
that I did not when I used the Apple ][ all so
many years ago. Today was another example of this.

I have come across a book title called

Dos Source by Randy Hyde (or Randall Hyde)

Is anyone familiar with this title?
Is it available on-line somewhere?

Apple III main capacitor replacement question...

Hello,

So I got this beautiful Apple iii in from 1978appleii.

Whelp the mains blew on it right before she shipped it out to me. It sticks horribly. I'm going to replace the cap but I can't seem to find the voltage for it. I know it's a 22uf but does anyone else have the specifics so I can order it.

Also it looks at though the board has been recapped. Anyone else see these caps before?

Thanks
Samm

//c 74LS161 TTL to Oscillator fix

Has anyone ever had any luck 'upgrading' their 255 Apple //c with the dodgy TTL serial timing chip to use an oscillator instead? I've seen this mod mentioned elsewhere but no firm details.

I would assume, one pin of the oscillator goes to Pin 1 of the TTL, and the other pin goes to ground? But I really have no idea, would be stabbing around in the dark and would hate to do damage to the //c I just bought!

ADTPro - Super Serial Card

Hi,

I've got a Super Serial Card, and I'm having trouble with it. I went on the ADTPro website, set the jumper block to down(straight through cable).

Then I set the DIP switches to as shown in the photo on their site. 1001111 1101100.

I've tried the following in slots 1,2,4,6. All yield the same result. Also, Slot 6 was where my floppy controller was, so I know that slot is OK.

I type IN#2(in slot 2).

DOS

Is this available to read or does
someone have it.

All about DOS by Call Apple.

I have checked their website and
it does not appear to be there.
I do now know if it is an official
publication but I am interested
in learning more about DOS and
how to modify your own DOS.
As I was inspired by reading
Beneath Apple DOS.

Prometheus ProModem interesting dual card

What is the purpose of the second interconnected card in another slot but also connected to the modem card via the ribbon cable in this auction http://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-IIe-/272002352737?

I guess it could be something like an answering machine...

Is computer preservation aesthetic? (Large pictures)

I've recently been digging inside an older Disk ][ drive in a (perhaps vain) attempt to repair some niggling bugs. Those that have looked at my other thread will have seen what's up.

On the latest attempt at some basic troubleshooting, I paused and took pictures. For me, the insides of a disk drive never looked so good. Maybe it's the simplicity of what's on offer - I've seen more complex circuits in FM radios. I really enjoy taking pictures and documenting my (again, perhaps vain) attempts at hardware preservation. The Disk ][ simplicity is remarkable.
