Apple II

Assembly Corner

I came across this add in Hardcore Computist Issue 21.

Did anyone attend this course when it was offered?
I am also trying to find disks for the course
and have searched ASIMOV but have had no results.

If anyone has any information regarding this
please reply.

Apple ][+ Boot Issues

Hi everyone! I'm having some issues with a recently acquired Apple 2 plus. When I boot it up, all I get is a screen full of ??@@??@@??@@. I removed all the expansion cards, no luck. I tried reseating all the ROMs and spraying their sockets with contact cleaning spray, still nothing. I tried wiggling some of the chips in their sockets, sone times I will get some other random garbage in the ??@@s. I checked with a picture online and all the ROMs are in the right places. Does anyone know what might be the issue?

ProDOS 2.4 Beta Testing

With my last post, this topic came up so I thought
I would do a separate post for this as I when I
raised this topic not many people knew about it.

Note: Don't assume what you know that someone else does!!!

John Brooks is Beta testing ProDOS 2.4 and if you contact
him he is willing to let you test it out.

I built ProDOS 2.4 RC1 today and sent it to volunteers for testing.

Notes on new features (1-6 are same as Beta1):
1) All ProDOS functions are now 6502 code except /RAM, 80 col quit, GS clock, & GSOS quit
2) Apple ][, ][+, and un-enhanced //e compatible
3) Fixed aux-mem test at 01/0400 which caused a flashing period on ][ & ][+
4) Greeting text and LC error text converts from lower to upper case if CPU==6502
5) Tested on emulators to run on ][+ and IIGS
6) Can be copied to system folder and renamed to P8 to use with GSOS
7) SystemDeath message system added at LC bank 2, $D001-$D04F
Dirol Minor size and space optimizations to fit SysDeath + 6502 without increasing the file size

Known issues:
-none-

zip chip software version 1

Today I decided to examine the diskette that came with my zip chip 4mhz so that I can make images out of them.

The floppy disk was damaged.

I managed to recover most of the information but because I had to use a lot of tricks I have learned over the years, I am not sure if this "creation" is really compatible with my chip or if it has any bugs due to my modifications and also, I am not even sure if they will cause any problems.

So, until I am convinced that my modified disk is the only one I have to work with...

Curious about the //C

Just out of curiousity.
Is it possible with //c to have
a 6502 processor rather than the 65C02?

Is it as simple as changing it over or
are there other things to consider. (or not even possible)

Apple //c z-80c / Softcard

How rare are these?

I stumbled on some information a week or so ago about a Centech z80 card for the //c, but since then can't find anything.

Do such cards come up for sale regularly anywhere, or are they mostly unobtanium? I know there's also an Applied Engineering one.

Thanks!

I went searching for the website that
