From the Apple II Integer Basic days, who remembers...

I recently came across some old Apple II cassette tapes I apparently created back in 1979 or 80.  One of the cassettes had files on both sides.  The contents were:

Side 11. Othello (2 copies each)2. State Capitals (2 copies each)3. Advanced Dragon Maze (1 copy)

Side 21. The Applelodion (2 copies each)2. Appleodion Data (2 copies each)3. Two Voice Music Data (2 copies each)4. Bach (1 copy)

PrintTok/cc65: new version available, not quite v. 2

Hi!  Over the past few days, I delayed work on printtok2 in favor of a slightly improved version of printtok1.  The new features include 128 one-byte tokens and more special control codes, including pauses, clear screen, inverse mode and, for most CBM targets, up to eight text colors as stored in an array in the modules.  It still doesn't have automatic compression, but I'm working on it.  It is at https://sourceforge.net/projects/cc65extra/files/ui/.  Try it out!

Is it possible to convert a data cassette to PC readable format for emulator?

Hello! Thanks again for the host of the forum providing this, a place for hobbist to share ideas and ask for help.

I have got an apple data cassette from a family friend who has passed away a few years ago. I think it is nothing important but just a memorial for my family member.

I just wonder if it is possible to retrieve the data to a pc readable format like dsk format that converting from apple diskette?

IO error on Apple //e

I am occasionally getting an IO ERROR when executing commands, even when I successfully executed other commands before it gave me the error. If I check the kernel using CLOSED APPLE+CONTROL+RESET, it gives me the error message "IOU FLAG E5:1". If I check the kernel using the same method before the IO ERROR message appears in the console, the diagnostics tool tells me KERNEL OK.

New Machine = new questions

Hi all:

I was fortunate enough to pick up an Apple IIc + with monitor for an amazing deal.

Things look good so far but I was running into some ADTPro issues, I think its cabling.

But it got me thinking.  What about picking up an external 5.25" off eBay?  Can the IIc+ use any of the 5.25" externals, some on eBay say for Macintosh.  Is there a difference?

The other thought was, can a floppy drive from a IIe or II+ be adapted to work?  My gut says unlikely as I am willing to bet the bus is different.  Just a guess, but I suspect the external floppies are SCSI.

Help with Apple /// format disk error #21

I am trying to fix an external Disk /// drive that gives a "Format error #21. Internal program error." Message when I try to format a diskette. When I format the diskette using the internal disk drive, the disk completes formatting with no errors. I've looked through my Apple /// manuals and did a Google search, but cannot find what this error means. I've cleaned the head on this disk drive, have cleaned the head mechanism rails with isopropyl alcohol, and have replaced the ICs on the Disk /// Analog Card from a known working Disk II drive.

Silly issue with Floppy Emu C and IIe

Hi all,

I'm really sorry to post what is likely a really obvious question, but I simply cannot work it out - all the more annoying as I am sure I have had this working at some point.

I have a Floppy Emu model C  that I've recently put into one of PTB's wonderfully retro Disk ][ cases. It works wonderfully on my Apple IIc with the provided internal/external drive switcher. But,  as it looks like a Disk ][ it makes sense to use it on my IIe. The problem is I cannot get it to work!
