A IIGS 3.5 Drive

So, I got my A IIGS today. It has 5.25, and 3.5 drives. I don't have any GS software yet, as I have to make an ADTPro cable. I used an ADTPro 5.25 floppy I have, to try to format the 3.5, and it won't even list it under volumes. I tried a PRODOS User Disk, and it also doesn't show up there. The drive will run, and the LED will light when I do a list volumes, but doesn't show up in the list. Is this drive not supported by the floppies I'm booting from, or is the drive bad.

Super Serial Card II in Apple IIgs

Will a Super Serial Card II that will work in an AIIe work OK in an AIIgs? The reason I'm asking is I bought a IIgs, and want to use ADTPro with it. I've read the manual, and it says some cards will and some won't. I hope the SSC II is one of the ones that works Smile Thanks.

Apple IIe Mouse Card

I purchased a 670-0030 mouse card for my apple iie. I am unable to find a manual on the internet anywhere. Does anyone have a pdf of the manual they could send me, or know what is the preferred expansion slot that it plugs in to? Thanks.

What is the card next to the memory card in this IIgs?

This IIgs caught my attention, since it looks like a IIe -> IIgs upgrade board in a regular IIgs case (due to the connectors on the motherboard). I can't identify the card. It looks like it might be some kind of multifunction card with floppy connectors. The auction says it is a SCSI card, but not one that I recognize. Just curious.

System Saver Fan

Anyone ever buy a System Saver fan for their Apple IIe, only to find that the plastic on the computer is too thick for the fan assembly to clip over, or am I just trying to put it on wrong. It is like the notches in the fan assembly aren't wide enough to slip over the plastic of the Apple.

Emulator to Real GS

I am also a big Amiga user, and I use compact flash for my hard disks. I have one of the CFFA3000's on order. For my Amiga, I can use WinUAE, and install the OS onto the CF using the CF reader in my PC, then just move it over into the Amiga, and it runs like it was installed in the real Amiga. Can I do this with an emulator, for an Apple IIGS, or an Apple IIE? Put the CF in my PC, run an emulator, and install everything, then just put the CF in my Apple, and be done? Thanks.

Wico Trackball for Apple II

I picked up one of these on Ebay hoping it would function as a paddle replacement since the prices for those are absurd these days. What I found is, it does not replace the paddles, but it is a slot independent, fully functioning arcade trackball that registers both location and acceleration, unlike the Atari version which just replaced the joystick. Do any of you know of any games that are designed for this controller, or can be made to work with it? I have seen some mention of "pre-boot" disks used for other versions, do any of you know if such things exist for Apple II software?

Is my Apple IIe Enhanced now?

Hey everyone, I'm new to Apple, as I picked one up locally with the green monitor w/tilt screen, duodrive, 64k/80 column card. It worked, but had problems, wouldn't pass diag. I did some poking, and found the small chip just to the left of the ram had a broken lead, and I suspect it had some bad ram chips. Re-seating didn't help. It was a MB manufactured in 1982, and when booted, showed 'Apple ]['. I found a 1984 MB on ebay, tested, passing diags, for $20, so I bought it. I changed the MB, and it works great. Now, when I power it up, it shows 'Apple ][e', instead of just 'Apple ]['.

Apple II power supply trivia question

I have been looking at this power supply for more than 30 years now and it just occurred to me to wonder about the change in the model number.

The overwrite on the model number is how it was delivered from the dealer. I've seen a lot of A2M001 power supplies, but I don't think I've seen any A2M030s. Was that an Apple power supply model? I suspect not, since Google doesn't turn up anything.

(Sorry for the giant image.)
