Japanese Symbols on Motherboard

I recently acquired an Apple IIe. While looking at the motherboard, I noticed that all the markings seem to be double printed, once in green, then once over that in white, but slightly offset. I also noticed something else. Where it says "Apple IIe 1983" on the motherboard, it's printed correctly in white, but underneath in green, it says "リンゴ IIe 1983" Any idea what's going on here? I thought maybe it was normal, but I can't find anything about it.

Request for info on kr3600/ay-5-3600 keyboard encoder IC

I have an 820-0026-C keyboard encoder board attached to a pre-RFI Datanetics keyboard. Its being used with a rev 4 motherboard (II/II+).
The encoder board seems to match the schematic in Fig 7.8 of "Understanding the Apple II". The encoder IC seems to have an apple part # 331-0931-B, and manufacturer part # SMC KR3600-070 (instead of the AY-5-3600 in the schematic).

Unfortunately, it seems as though the keyboard encoder IC is faulty - some of the encoder IC's data output lines are floating at 1.65V instead of outputting the (inverted) key code.

Beachcomber and Squirt

BeachComber and Squirt .. anybody remember these?

Beachcomber - a program to basically defrag a prodos volume.
Squirt - a fast startup menu for use on hard disks. Minimalism in the extreme!

Anyone know of a program to zero out sectors that are not in use on a prodos volume?
I was hoping beachcomber does it, but, the docs don't mention that ability. So I assume no.

Questions on Applewin/ciderpress/dos/prodos (disk image format related)

I'm trying to solve a problem here and hoping to get some input.

I have a large number of "hi-res" pictures from back in the BBS days I'm organizing. These are all compressed with the AXE PACKER, that in and of itself is not a problem. It works fine in Applewin. And I can easily put them back into a "BSAVE PIC123,A$4000,L$1FF8" uncompressed format. And it enabled me to put 30 or 40 pictures on a single floppy disk. That was kick-ass back in the day! Wow!

Run Mindshadow from Apple II hard drive

Does anyone know if there's some way to run Mindshadow from an Apple II hard drive? I have no issues running it from the original 5.25" floppies but I'm trying to figure out a way to run it from my hard drive as this would be much more convenient. Also wondering if anyone might know what format the disk is.

SoundChaser and Mountain Music System on an Apple IIGs

Hello all,
I acquired a SoundChaser, keyboard and mountain Music system card pack the other day and I'm trying to get it working under my Apple IIGS and no luck. I get a few tones when I try a demo song but they seem to stuck like a broken record.

I'm now doubting if this will run under an Apple IIGS. I've reduced the speed to normal in the control panel and I have my cards in Slots 4,5,7 as stated in the manual. The slots are defined in the control panel too.

Can anyone confirm this works under a Apple IIGS?

So everyone study the text and all the photos, both in the advert and in the body of the text, and see how many school boy errors make this NOT A GENUINE 1978 machine...

I have spotted at least 9 errors:

[1] - Photo of 6502 processor shows it as a MOS with date code 2881 - 28th week 1981 - not 1978
