PC => MAC => Apple IIgs problem

Hello,
I have bought an old MAC LC630 to transfer files to my lovely Apple IIgs. The IIgs has an external SCSI hard disk, so I'm transferring the files this way.

Installing latest Apple 2gs System Software

Hi,

I have purchased an Apple 2GS that I want to use to recover my old floppies from high school. However it has OS system 3 which I think is pre GS/OS and that's why it won't read the old DOS 3.3 disks. I checked the Apple web site, and there is 7 disks in total to install the latest version 6 of GS/OS. However the GS machine does not have a hard disk, so does anyone know the procedure on how to install and make a boot disk for an Apple 2GS from the latest system software on the Apple web site if they are running off a 800K floppy based system.

Regards,

Grant

ADT Pro (Apple IIgs & 68k Mac)

I have a Mac LC III and a IIgs. Where can I get a 68k Mac ADT Pro that will run on on System 7? I also have a printer cable from an old StyleWriter II, can I use this to connect to my IIgs if I can get ADT Pro to run and if so how should I connect it (on both sides)?

Broken keyboard - help?

Hello friends,

I finally got an old Apple IIe (non-platinum) with a couple of Disk ][ drives off ebay, and of course the seller didn't pack it well and several keys are broken off. Does anyone have or sell the keyswitches (with the stems that go in the keycaps) or just have an old broken keyboard I can buy for parts to make mine whole again?

Curious, how large is the Apple II community?

I was wondering if anyone had any guestimates of how many old Apple II fans are out there in 2009? There seems to be an abundance of items for sale on Ebay so I would expect the hobby is fairly popular. I've recently gotten back into it after dragging my old Apple IIe out of the basement and am really enjoying the ability to connect my Apple IIe to my Mac using the Virtual II emulator and A2V2/ADT. I used the Super Serial Card method and it works great.

Looking for old Alice In Wonderland Game (not the Windham Classic)

Hi All!

I'm hoping someone knows or can remember this game and point me in the right direction.

When i was a kid, I used to play this Alice in Wonderland game on Apple IIe computers at school; we're talking late 80s here.

Now, I've googled, but it is definitely NOT this game:

The above game is based on the Below the Root engine etc and is a sidescrolling RPG type game, and the game I used to play was NOT.

Disk ][ drive sounds bad

I have 2 Disk ][ drives. Drive 1 sounds silky smooth, Drive 2 sounds like it is struggling. Drive 2 makes a much louder higher pitched studder noise when kicking off an init, it is louder when writing, and it also throws in a high pitched squeak every once in a while. It just doesn't sound as healthy as Drive 1.

Is there any maintenance I can do to make this Drive 2 a little quieter and smoother?

Apple IIGS Formatting Questions

http://www.8bitcollective.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=6361

Basically you can see my problem. I have a new OSX Mac and a Windows 98 I believe. I have USB floppy burner/reader. I believe I have the old DD floppies and the "new" floppies. Also does anybody have the disk image for the newest version of Noisetracker (which I believe is 4.0?) and the disk image for the newest version of Soundsmith that they could send me? Thank you all so much for your help! Sorry that I am not well versed enough in this topic. Thank you again!

Apple IIgs Video Sync Question

Does anyone know what type of sync the Apple IIgs outputs (on the RGB output)? Positive or negative. If negative how do you convert it to Positive.
