Dial-Up BBS on a Apple II

Hi,
I've set up an real old school dial-up BBS on an Apple IIe:

Software: Networks II from 1981 ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Networks_II )
Modem: Hayes Micromodem II from 1979
Computer: Apple IIe from 1983

The System is running very good and I can log on from other Apple II with a Hayes Micromodem II. The Bulletins, Email and Downloads are working very good.

Before I start running it I would like to ask all of you who are experienced with running a BBS on a Apple II:

Project: IIc video/boot problem

SO I have a new project IIc.

When I power it up I get no disk drive spin, just power LED and vertical color bars.

After disassembling it I found an anomaly at the location of the character ROM socket.

The socket is a 28-pin.

The chip in it is 24-pin, labeled 342-0265-A, and if i move it around slightly it get variations in the video output.

I believe this chip may be a video ROM chip for a IIe enhancement kit? (No real knowledge here, just a google search).

Is this the correct chip for the IIc?

Any help would be great.

Thx

Apple IIe Issue (weird chars, etc...)

Hello Everybody,
writing from Italy, so sorry for my typo's...
I own an "Apple IIe" which I bought from a French guy.
By switching it on, the computer beeps and I get a strange "Apple §°" or "Apple $*" something message with nothing else (attached the pic, by now i'm able to use the only TV out which isn't vivid at all).

John Morris @ Kerthunk

Anybody know if he is still around? He used to sell capacitor replacement kits on eBay and also performed power supply and keyboard repairs on old Apple II's...

Tried to reach him various ways recently, and not getting a response - wondering if anyone knows what's up?
