Power Supplies - rebuild or replace outright

I've been searching this forum, and there is lots written regarding Apple power supplies... I'm stll digesting it all.

Without trying to stir the pot...    I have several Apple ][+, //e and even 2 //c's....    And from what I have read I believe I shouldn't operate any of them with their original PSU's.

I feel I have the minimum skills to replace capacitors..

Apple Disk II speed control board failure

Now, here is something for real Apple2 experts  :-)Apple Disk II - the diskette spin motor won't start, all other functions seem to be OK, but with floppy not spinning its hard to tell. The analog board looks OK, the "motor on" signal is generated, the motor itself spins when powered. I traced the problem to the speed control board (SCB), initially I suspected Q4 (the power transistor), but it looks OK, BUT ... Q3 is faulty!  There is no visible damage on the board, no signs of overheating, etc. It is rather rare that a low power transistor fails by itself...

Apple ][ europlus not booting

I thought it was the power supply but it appears to be fine as all + 5 V +12V -5V and -12 V measures correct from plug and back of the motherboard. When switched on, speaker clicks but no beep, no power light or display. I can feel heat when I touch 6502 and the roms but ram chips all cold. I have also reseated all the chips. I am now stuck at what to try next. Any pointers would be much appreciated.

BASIS-108 - Serial Loopback Test - How to?

Does anyone know how to perform a serial loopback test at a BASIS-108 computer?

More interesting is the question what cable needs to be used to transfer data via ADTPro to a BASIS-108, because a Null Modem cable doesn't work (as normally when using an Apple IIe instead the BASIS-108, for example).

Rev 0 that puts screen full of question Mark's but is unresponsive

Got my first Rev 0!  It's in really nice shape.

When I first powered up, I was getting a solid white screen.  If I powered down and back up again, it would sometimes display a screen full of Gs.

II+ power supply voltage checking

I'm trying to get an Apple II+ clone fully working (it boots up like it should, but there's no response from the keyboard -something I'm looking into, suspecting the keyboard itself needing repair). However, there are some other things worth considering like the power supply output. With the computer switched on I measure these voltages:

- 12.009 V+ 11.480 V+ 4.998 V- 5.033 V

My concern is the +12V line. Is it too low? if it is, what action will likely remedy this?

Want to burn Vulcan 2.0 (Gold) Rom. What equipment do I need?

I have a Vulcan drive and card. The Rom chip is labeled Vulcan 1.2GS. I would like to use the Gold rom BIN file and make my own 2.0GS rom. I have never worked with eeprom etc. What equipment do I need to “burn” my own Vulcan Rom?

Apple IIgs RGB Monitor Runs Hot

I have an Apple IIgs setup that I would use more if it wasn't for the monitor.

It's the AppleColor RGB A2M6014. It works okay, though some of the geometry could use improvement, but it runs too hot.

By "too hot" I mean that after it's on a while, I can smell the hot electronics, unlike every other vintage CRT I have, and soon after that I can smell the hot plastic of the shell. It's not pleasant and doesn't seem right.
