Apple II "Pong" as mentioned in the "Mini Manual"

I noticed this the other day in the Mini-Manual and mentioned it on a Facebook post about someone collecting all the original Apple II tapes.

http://bitsavers.trailing-edge.com/pdf/apple/apple_II/PrelimApple%5D%5Bmanual.pdf

Look on page 7, it mentions that "Pong" uses Paddle 1 in addition to Paddle 0. This implies it is not talking about "Brick Out" which is not a two player game. Also, Brick Out is specifically mentioned elsewhere in the manual, I believe.

Does a "Pong" tape exist undumped?

Omnivore

While this is not new I thought I would post as I have
just come across this and found it interesting.

Some of you might already know what it is, but
for others, you may not.

What is it?

- a hex editor
- bitmap viewer
- disassembler (supports 6502, 65C02, 65816 and Z80)
- mini assembler
- jumpman level editor (for Atari)

It runs on Windows, Mac and Linux.
It can operate on files (currently DOS 3.3 supported)
disk images for either Apple II or Atari.

Apple IIe Platinum in Bad Shape

My addiction has caused me to purchase another Apple IIe. This time, a Platinum IIe that is in very poor condition (but I got it cheap).

This one looks to have some text CARVED into the case. Not the top cover but just above the keyboard (which is missing keys). I haven't received the unit yet so I don't know how deep it goes.

Recapping an Apple II Power Supply

How would I go about recapping an Apple II power supply? How do I get the board out to replace the capacitors? I would like to be able to repair it, put it together again and install it in my Apple //e to replace the PC power supply hack-job I currently have.

IRQ

I am doing some research to find out more information about
how IRQ's work/operate.

Can someone help that can read schematics.

Here is the link.

https://apple2.gs/downloads/Apple_IIgs_256K_Schematic.pdf

On the CPU, the IRQ is lead to the box that contains the following

IRQ L, 2,3,4,7,5,8

What are these numbers?

Market for Mockingboard Replica?

I know original vintage Mockingboards are sought after. I've built my own in the past based on the Bill Garber design. There really isn't much to it.

So, I was wondering...is there still a market for clone Mockingboards in 2017/18? I know that Kim guy has one for the IIc that looks pretty cool. But I'm talking about for the IIe.

I'm itching to build and produce a card for the IIe but I'd like other people to benefit too.

Byte Shops!

I was wondering if anyone had any photos or other ephemera from the old Byte Shop chain.

I had a friend who was studying computers back in the late 1970's, and when a Byte Shop computer opened in my home town he literally dragged me there even though I had no interest whatsoever.
