Odd II+ power-up behaviour

I've been struggling with a II+ that's not powering up properly.

The motherboard contains just one row of RAM chips - 16K of tested good RAM.  ROM chips all test good on EPROM reader.

First symptom (and this is variable):  Powers up to the (with beep) ] prompt but entering any keystrokes causes it to crash out.

Second symptom:  it worsened to a blank inverse screen (still a beep) with what appears to be a black cursor in the top left.  No input - reset does nothing.

Apple IIe and daisy chaining 5.25" floppy

I have the IIe with the usual disk controller card, and was running a 5.25 floppy model A9M0107.  Worked fine.  Then I added a second drive, same model, using that as Drive 1 and the existing drive as Drive 2 attached to Drive 1, daisy chain.  The (new) Drive 1 works fine, but Drive 2 (the drive that worked fine as sole Drive 1) appears to be dead.  Is there anyhing else I have to do with the daisy chain?  Or is there a way to get the IIe to look at Drive?  I tried Catalog ,D2, but get an I/O error.

Creating Menus of Programs on Disk Emulator

So, as I'm sure you all know, floppy emulators like the ReActiveMicro Microdrive Turbo use cards, like a compact flash card and even IDE drives, to emulate floppies.  Each "Volume" on the Microdrive Turbo can be up to 32 MB.  My question is, is there a way to use that space to create a menu of disk images that would otherwise have to boot from their own floppy, or their own Volume on the card , so that I could simply boot into one Volume on the card and choose what to run off a menu?

Interface ascii apple II+ help

Hello everyone. Could someone help me by explaining how the options for selecting the keyboard type work? I built this board for an Apple II+, put all the JUMPERs (I didn't use a Dip Switch) and it worked fine, but I would like to understand this mapping of columns and rows.Thank you.

OKS Multi-Kache cache

OKS advertised the Multi-Kache cards as having 256k expandible to 1mb.

I was looking at some pics of the Multi-Kache cards and noticed something, 18 and 20 pin RAM.

In the pics one card has HM511000P-10S which is 1mb x 1bit. While the other card has AAA1M204P-08H which is 1mb x 4bit. That seems to indicate that the card can have 4mb cache.

Two Apple ][+ boards with garbage on the screen and no beep! BUT!!!! It;s not the CPU or Auto Start?

Just as the title says. I have two Apple ][ Plus boards (1 rev C, the other rev d) that are currently on the fritz . Both display garbage (or more accurately, the RAM state) on screen with no cursor and give no beep. However, I can state with certainty that it's not the CPUs or AutoStart ROMs, as all have been tested in another working board, and the CPU and AutoStart from the working board have been tested in the broken boards and the symptoms remain with the problem boards.

cc65/Apple2enh: memory configs and ProDOSi

Hi!  If anybody's interested, I have online AuxMemApple and ProDOSi for cc65.  AuxMemApple is a group of alternate memory configurations that provide near-direct access to aux memory, dedicated string and memory functions to use it and usage of unused OS memory, and ProDOSi is a library of functions to use ProDOS almost directly to perform disk access.  AuxMemApple can be found at c65 additions - Manage /memory cfgs at SourceForge.net, and ProDOSi at

Animating images in Applesoft Basic

Hello, per the title, I have this little project where I'd like to animate five 280x192 HGR images with a utility I found from Beagle Bros, Extra-K. It comes with a program called Extra.Screens that utilizes 128k of memory from the IIE and the Extended 80 column card. Attached is the manual with the needed info (pages 26 to ~35).
