Does anyone know of any suppliers for parts kits besides ReActiveMicro? They are out of stock, and will not respond to my inquiry on availability.

Apple III Monochrome Display

I want an excellent condition Apple III monitor monochrome display. I bought one on ebay that came with an Apple IIe I bought and the display is too dim and I think it is defective. I remember the display as being rather bright when I was kid. Ebay charges $150+ for these monitors and there is no way to know their conditions from the webpage. Where can I get one for a fair price? How could I fix/troubleshoot the one I have? Does anyone have one they want to sell?

Software Automated Mouth (S.A.M.) not working :(

Hi everyone, I've finally got my Apple ii clone working after much trouble. I'm now running a ROMX :)

I'm trying to get SAM (S.A.M. Software Automated Mouth) to work but I never hear any audio.

I type RUN S.A.M. and select either DEMO, SPEECHES or SAYIT but no sound.

I connect my logic probe to the CLOCK pin11 of the 74LS273 (Octal D flip-flop) to see if its being triggered and I get nothing.

If I jump to monitor and type "C0C0 0" I hear a click from the speaker and my logic probe fires off with a breif logic low. Note S.A.M. is in slot4

Apple IIc+ Disk Drive Noise

So after some years, I dragged out the IIc+ I bought awhile ago and brought it in.  I got it working briefly, then all of a sudden the internal disk drive started making a high pitched whining noise and won't read disks.  I have a Unidisk 3.5 drive, so I grabbed it and plugged it in.  It worked once, then started making the same high pitched whining noise and now won't read disks.  I'm assuming the problem is coming from the IIc+ itself, and not the disk drives.  Anyone else ever had this issue or heard of it?  Thanks!

Cannot make a physical copy of a .dsk file

Hi all,

This is mostly curiosity than anything else. I went to run an old game of my youth - we've talked about it here before, "Avventura nel Castello", an Italian text adventure game. The author, Colombini (Erix here), removed the copy protection some years ago and published the game as freeware.

Unfortunately, I can run the game from my Floppy Emu but if I copy the disk on a physical media using Locksmith, it gives an error while loading or manages to load a bit and then gives an error on the main menu.

Apple IIe long stem caps lock switch assemble guide

Hello! I'm repairing and old Apple IIe keyboard with long stem ALPS switches. I was able to repair and disassemble every switch with 100% success. I was pretty confident in the task until I met my match: the Caps Lock Switch. Once I opened it, it was completely different and now... I can´t assemble it back on!! I've been trying different ways but there are some pieces (a little copper wire, for example) that got me totally confused. Any idea of where can I find an image, blueprint or video on how to assemble THAT specific key? Thanks a million in advance for your time and patience.

Why is the PAL Apple //c a B/W only machine?

Hi all,

As per subject: it was released after the //e which could do colour in PAL on composite. But the PAL version of the //c is only B/W. Why is that? Lack of space of the board? Cost saving?

I'd imagine it's like the Europlus: it's an NTSC video output running at 50Hz so it shows as B/W in PAL.

Thanks! :)

A2DVI: Apple II Digital Video

I have written a little blog article on a new project, a collaboration between Ralle Palaveev and me. For those interested in the details, see here:

https://www.applefritter.com/content/a2dvi-apple-ii-digital-video-card

The short summary is: a new PICO based Apple II graphics card - just like the propular analog VGA cards - but with an alternative HDMI connector. So a card with digital video output instead of analog VGA.
